I believe in the book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation was written by John (the Disciple of Jesus) while he was exiled.
First and formost, I'm against picking and choosing what parts of the Bible are true or not. You should really believe all of the Bible or none of it. Expecially when you're talking about something as fundamental as Hell.
There's no point to Christianity if there's no Hell. If there's no Hell, we wouldn't need saving, Christ wouldn't have died for our sins, ect. The entire Bible just loses it's point.
I don't put much store in the Vatican and their views. I've found too many parts of Catholicism that I feel disagree with the Bible in general, such as their views on Baptism, and their worshipping of the Saints.
Plus, Revelations isn't the only book of the bible to mention the endtimes. It deals with it the most, but it's mentioned several times throughout the bible.
Heck, even modern science seems to be in favor of the view that the endtimes may be right around the corner.

I've heard this argument for so long. The thing I've heard the most is that the events in Revelation have already occurred - somewhere around 70 AD. This particular belief is called Preterism.
The fact is, some of them haven't occurred and we know they haven't. For example, it mentions to 200-million-man army of China. There weren't even 200 million people on the whole earth in 70 AD. It also says the Euphrates river dried up. That's never happened. So these events that are spelled out for us in Revelation are yet to come.
Also, there amazing similarities and things that "line up" between the book of Revelation and some of the minor and major books of prophecy found in the Old Testament. Especially Daniel, so will they throw that out too?
I think they should just leave the Bible alone and focus on understanding it vs. changing it or wishing it weren't true. Maybe they just want to remove it because they can't understand it or explain it (it is the hardest book to understand in my opinion). Maybe it's too hard to discuss how this world will end? It doesn't change the truth of God's holy infallible word.
I don't pay any attention to the Vatican anyway, so they can remove whatever they want to, add whatever they want to, twist whatever they want to and it won't affect my beliefs one iota.

I think if a myth means the "year 2012" (not sure of the month/day). I'd say yes. But is DOOMSDAY a myth, absolutely not. I believe things come to an end but, they don't necessarily have to. Hearing doomsday is coming is a warning to our world. Do you believe that if you take good care or something, someone, or yourself that it will last longer or even last forever? Doomsday warning is so much larger then that but, with that same idea. If the world can't unite there will be no world. Everything in life pretty much is given some sort of time on how long it'll last. How else could we meet or goals or challenge ourselves? But I've never witnessed something destroyed on the exact time stated. Unless man/women were in control to make it happen. Not 1 person can destroy our world but due to the "majority rules" definition. If more people in our world have hate verses the number of people that have love. Most likely our world as we know it will be taken. But you really need to make sure you're ready if it ever does come. We're not guaranteed tomorrow, tomorrow could even be doomsday. There's a lot more fighting in this world today then there used to be. That tells me there's more hate and misery. So I think doomsday could be getting nearer. I don't how close or far away it might be. But while we're not experiencing it right this very second then it's a good idea to try to pitch in with getting the message out there. That is if you care about our world. Doomsday doesn't have to "come" at all. It will only happen when there's a greater army of hate and then it's bye bye world. That's why God gave us eternal life because there doesn't have to be an end where there's love. Infinity. Our world was created by God's Love. Have you ever heard anyone say "Love makes the world go around?" God started that saying. People who fear Doomsday are just confused on their beliefs "the lost souls". Their usually the ones that don't know Jesus. They've only heard or read about him, thinking they know him. But they don't have Jesus living inside them. Remember all books including the Bible were written by "someone". Listen to the stories, there's a lot to learned. But only trust and believe what you feel inside yourself. Go with your first instincts once in awhile. You maybe surprised. Just when you think God never talks to you, you might be shocked to see not only does he hear you but he responds fast. Love yourself, do what feels good and right. If you don't know what good or right is it's that feeling inside you that will always make you smile when you think of it. It's something that can never ever bring regret or negative to you or your life. And no one can ever take it from you. It's actually very simple thanks to the Law or Attraction. Love yourself, (super easy to do when you recognize Jesus) do good and right by trusting and believing in yourself and that's it. You'll be happy, you'll attract other happy people that love themselves. Before you know it, love will have conquered all. And Doomsday will only be a myth......We don't have to be a religious guru or anything like that to love ourselves. You only got believe in yourself cuz your body is Jesus' house. You'll get the right answers there.

If you want to understand the Book of Revelation completely, then read the book that explains every verse.
John the Beloved wrote Revelation in the early part of the 4th Century. The books of the New Testament were not selected, edited, and collated until hundreds of years after the death of Jesus. John was still alive then, and in disguise, visited those responsible for its canonization. His writings were profound. They gave the editors a different view of Jesus’ ministry than that which had been passed down from one generation to the next.
John also delivered his manuscript for his Revelation to the editors, knowing they would never comprehend its meaning because of the symbolic and metaphorical way in which it was written. In this way, John maintained the integrity of the manuscript for hundreds of years.
The editors of the New Testament, for example, transformed the canon of scripture into what they felt best served their interests and agendas at the time. They edited, transposed, added to, and deleted any part that did not fit their perception of the doctrine of Christ, which at the time they began to organize the New Testament, was far from what Christ intended.
John knew this, and wrote Revelation in such a way that they would not understand his words. He includes these religious leaders in his figurative expression of the “locusts” (see commentary on Revelation 9:3–10). These, as well as all modern-day religious leaders, never had a clue that he was referring to them.
When God does not intervene in our mortal lives, we cause ourselves misery and create hell upon earth.
The “keys of hell and of death” (spoken of in Rev 1:18) are a knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ, or the way that we treat and love each other as he taught us.
The opposite of being happy is being in hell. The key to happiness and the way out of hell, is in the way we treat each other. As we treat each other equally and as we would want to be treated, we eliminate hell, and prepare to live forever (the opposite of death) without causing any unhappiness to ourselves or to others—this is the “key” to overcoming “hell and death.”
When the human race finally realizes there is no hell, except for the one which it creates for itself, and that there is no force that can take away an individual’s free agency, and that we are solely responsible for how we use the bodies we have been given, we will finally have the ability to do what is necessary to create the peace and happiness associated with the term, “the kingdom of our God.”

What are my thoughts on the removal of Revelation from the Bible? I wouldn't care--it's nonsense. As for 'Doomsday" being a myth. Well, let's say this: any number of 'believers' have announced the coming of 'Doomsday" over the centuries, but here we are. Why would it be any different today? Rarely do I quote Napoleon Bonaparte because he was the Hitler of his time, but here goes: "Religion is excellent stuff for keeping common people quiet." Thus, 'Doomsday' and the fear it generates.

I thought there were only 7 days in a week? Is Doomsday in the weekend? I sure hope so.
Serious now. Check out how many doomsdays there already have been predicted the past centuries. It's very unlikely it's gonna happen this time.

I do not think that it is a myth and in doing so would be a great shame. For I guess this is what the book meant by soon everyone would be decieved.
For by taking this out, no one will believe it is true or read it. So then when it happens no one will know that it is what the book said except those that read it, and when they try to tell others...they will laugh and tell us that the book was taken out.
Prophecies never fail in the Bible and it looks like the one about even the greatest leaders being decieved will come true....sad.

Wow, I can actually agree with fundamentalists on something! That's amazing. I do believe it's a myth. Of course, I don't agree with a lot of stuff the Bible says. Some of it was probably based on historical fact, but I think a lot of it is simply fiction.
