Doesn't the bible state to not let your right hand know what your left hand is doing when it comes to giving? I'm glad he gives money away but it makes me question his motives when he tells everybody. I'd like some Christian perspective on this. Also, 10% of his income probably still affords him a very rich lifestyle.

The Bible advises that when giving alms or offering, one should try not to make it openly known.

If anyone makes his almsgiving openly known that person should not expect to receive any reward or credit for his acts of charity. By letting it be known openly "he has already received his reward".

You are right, but statistics show that a small percentage of Christians actually tithe. Perhaps Warren is acting as an example of how generous we can all be. Maybe not the high percentage or dollar amount he gives, but more than many presently give.

People were complaining about how much money he was making in book royalites.

So to keep the critics quiet, he announced he was giving way 90% of his income and living on the 10%

When you are a well known Pastor, no matter what you, someone will complain.

It is not really my place to judge Rick. The Bible is also clear that we will be judged by the same way that we judge others. Personally, I wouldn't care if he lived in a multi-million dollar mansion so long as he was fulfilling the will of God. God wants all people to be prosperous. It is not my place to push my views on how someone else should use God's blessings.

Rick's book has shown many followers of Christ that there is more than just going to church....that we are here for a purpose..it has a dramatic effect on many while still others reject the truth....everything else he does---right or wrong is absolutely between him & God.....

****the Bible also says that we should get the board out of our own eye before we try to get the sty out of someone elses..God Bless!

Brandi,
I have to agree with you on this one. It is not the fact of the money that he gives away, it is the fact that any giving that is done, I feel, should remain between you and God. If you proclaim from the rooftops how much you are giving away, you have already received your full reward in this life....

it's great that he is giving his money to charity I hope. I think that when your that rich and powerful, it's hard to keep secret your actions, especially when your giving away your fortune. I believe that God will still bless him nonetheless, yet it is still better in God's eyes to do good acts in private. God bless.

Who am I to judge another man's servant?

Why are you?

Look dude, I met Rick Warren. He pumps his own gas, he shops for himself. Don't know him? Don't be such a dick.
