Sks Drum Magazine

The SKS is a fantastic rifle from any country. They are reliable and accurate. That being said, I personally prefer the Yugo. Theirs are "beefier" than anyone else's. I really like the feel of the Yugo. Plus, at the current time, Yugos are the most affordable. There's nothing wrong with the Russians. They are lighter than the Yugo, which may be to your liking. They're also currently the most expensive, for no really good reason. The Chinese have a reputation for having an inferior finish. They're more susceptible to surface rust. However, this is a purely cosmetic defect, and does not change their excellent reliability. Norinco is about the only "iffy" choice to make. They tend to play with the original design, and the reliability of their rifles suffers as a result.

There is no such thing. A stock SKS CANNOT be equipped with any type of drum magazine. There has never been a military one made for the SKS, and AK-47 drums will not work with any of the 'aftermarket' junk mag adapters. In fact, I know several people who have tried these 'adapters' with AK stick mags, and NONE will work as advertised.
If you want a hi-cap rifle, buy one designed & equipped that way originally.

Like the piece of junk advertised on ebay, even tho they have military #'s, these drums are aftermarket "engineered" AK or RPK drums, NOT SKS, and they DO NOT WORK!

P.S: Cheaper than DIrt does NOT have a "SKS drum", either. They DO have a '100 round STICK', believe it or not, but I have learned from other peoples' mistakes and waste of funds that IT DOES NOT work either!

grizzly is right. To my knowledge I have never run across a single drum mag for the sks, only for ak's. You might get them to work in an sks-d (you know the sks that takes ak-47 magazines)...but I'm not too sure about that.

ok so they did make 75 rd drums for the sks...but trust me..YOU DON'T want to buy it!!..as far as I know they server no purpose other than for paper weights.

Russian is best of the 3, but also most expensive. Yugoslavian is very good at a better price, and chinese is the worst of the lot, but lowest in price. Chinese suffers from poor metallurgy, meaning they did not have the advances in treating metal when they were producing the SKS for export, so, the suffer from softer metal, which relates to higher failure rates. shoot safe

There are a few after-market drum magazines out there. Get a copy of "Shotgun News".. Problem you have to correct first is convert your SKS from a "fixed" 10 round built in magazine, to one that will accept detachable magazines. I have seen a few conversions that when finished you can use AK-47 30 round banana clips or drum magazines (7.62X39 caliber)
I don't know what state you live in but now many states like Maryland prohibit the sale of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. You should check your state laws to see if it is even legal first!..........Good Luck

To my knowledge and agreement to grizzly, your rifle accepts stripper clips, any conversions for a magazine tube will in all likelyhood be half assed and thus commercial magazine drums will not be likely.

Check with SARCO. Here is a suggestion for you, get a stock that converts the SKS to accept AK-47 mags. I did this, and then got a 75 round drum. Used it once and threw it on the shelf; it was interesting but too darned heavy when full of shells.
