I have a female cat that I took in from a former neighbor some years ago. She is real old but I don't know her exact age (20 something). All of a sudden she can't walk and it's like she is paryalyzed but she does have feeling and movement. When I try to stand her up she has no strength and falls right down on her side, her eyes are huge, like she is scared when this happens. She is eating so that's a good sign. What could be wrong with her? I have no poisonous plants in my house or other chemicals that she could have gotten into.

i am so sorry to hear this. she could have a number of things wrong, and unfortunately all of those can come with old age. she could have had a stroke, a seizure, or even a herniated disc putting pressure n her spinal cord. the only way to know for sure is to take her to the vet. i hope that he can help.

If she is about twenty she might not be around. I'm sorry but if you want her to live longer then i suggest that you find a very natural and healthy diet. If you want her to live then the food should cost alot. Make sure she drinks pure fresh and alot of water. Check the litterbox. If there is any blood in the waste then she could have a cut in an organ or have a worm. Take her to the nearest vet for check up every 2 weeks or maybe a month, but that may push your luck. Make sure you drive very smoothly. DO not feed her human food and make sure she doesn't gain or lose too much weight. Try giving her shallow warm water baths. Just to clean off and bacteria that may infect her. Baths should be given atleast once a month. don't listen to loud music or turn the tv on loud. this might disturb the cat in shock. Make sure that she does not go near the laundry room. cat sometime sleep in laundry baskets and get thrown into the washer of dryer. TAke her outside maybe once a week in the back yard to give her fresh air. Try not to pick her up a lot and if she is sleeping you might want to try not to disturb her. Sleep gets more mportant for cats of older age.Try not to use any cleaners around her and wash your hands in hot ater before touching her. this may give a bacteria. hope she will be around for a long time.

Sorry to say this but your cat might be at the end of her rope.

20-something is a really great age to live up to, especially for a cat. Unfortunatley its rare that a cat will live past 25-28 years old.

You can take her to the Vet, but I'm sure they will tell you the same, and maybe she has joint issues or osteoperosis. Her eys could possibly be wide from all the pain.

I hope everything turns out okay, but keep in mind that she is very old.

Take her to the vet and make your decisions that way- yes, your cat is very old, but you don't know what is wrong until you see a doctor- if you check human medical sites and open forums, they will tell you you have leprosy- you most likely do not. There is no substitute for a doctor. If kitty is too old for treatment, you will find out- if kitty has a stomach flu, you will get the pills for it.

it is very rare that a cat will live past 20.
Mine almost made it (19 something). Cancer tumors killed him.
He was still walking but not easily.
It's time to put it down.
AND, ask the vet not to analyze it, it will double the cost.
I got sucked into that without them even telling me what they were doing. It was an obvious situation and the cat was old.
Live and learn.

You know that is very odd but you have to think like a cat...( I know it sounds dumb) if was 20 and i was a cat I think I would be ready to move on....not to be mean or anything but cats usually do not live until they are 20...you might want to talk to your vet to find out for sure.

She needs to go to the vet immediately.

I suspect a blood clot in her aorta where it divides to go down each leg. It is very painful and very serious.

Don't delay.

Your cat is suffering from old age. Sorry. She won't get better. At some point, you will have to say goodbye to her, take her to the vet, and have her put to sleep. I'm sorry. We live so much longer than cats, it's sad.

At her age it could be just about anything. She needs to see a vet. At her age, this does not bode well.
