we hear allot about people who pulled themselves out of bad backgrounds, problems and situation with the help of god, or the gods. How did you do the same without faith?

donna I'm agnostic, I just thought this would be a interesting question. This was for people who have went through really serious problems in their lives.

Family, friends, and personal strength are what helped me to overcome adversity. It also helped me to read books about physics and the universe... as a distraction I guess. I was also able to workout heavily, diet, and talk about the situation to people who listened. Above all, time.

I'd triple star this question if it was possible. But I don't have the church problem anymore. I used to go to church cause my parents were Christian and they made me go. I was young and had no clue about different religions or any of that. AS I grew older, I figured out that there was more to life, than just religion. It seems at a young age, you can easily get brainwashed into following something that your parents dictate. Some kid in a Christian family at the age of 6 is NOT gonna say, "I wanna follow Islamic teachings..." But the universe has to balance itself out eventually, and the truth, I hope, will show up. But only time can tell...

Never needed faith. My strength comes from within, and it always has. I have never once been rescued by miracles - sometimes by the kindness of those who love me. Most often, though, I just have to cry for a moment, and then realize there is nothing else to do but move forward. And what do you know, I've managed.
I know the great secret...Life can't beat you. You can only lose by forfeit. To keep going is to win. There is a positive use for stubborness and even pride.

An understanding that change comes from within. How you view a situation directly affects your response to it.
I firmly believe that we each have the means to make life on Earth a heaven or hell for ourselves (and perhaps for others too).
A positive attitude, a loving family and a belief that even the blackest of clouds has a silver lining did it for me. That and the knowledge that life only beats you down if you let it.

because that is what life is all about..
to be or not to be that is the question
whether ´tis nobler in the mind to suffer
the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
or to take arms against a sea of troubles
and by opposing, end them...
Shakespeare said it in a much better way than your bible does

Here's my question to you, I'm not being condescending, how exactly does god help you with your problems? Doesn't it make more sense to figure it out on your own? God doesn't give you the answers, the answers come from inside you.

Nothing but willpower. I didn't get support from others because I didn't ask for it or let on that I needed it.

My mother came from a poor/abusive background. She pulled herself out of it for us kids. She gave no one credit but herself and her family. Now we're doing great.
