Drinking excessive soda might seriously harm your health.
reason 1:
cancer concern and possibility leading to DNA damage
Sodium benzoate derives from benzoic acid. It occurs naturally in berries, but is used in large quantities to prevent mould in soft drinks such as Sprite, Oasis and Dr Pepper. It is also added to pickles and sauces.
Sodium benzoate has already been the subject of concern about cancer because when mixed with the additive vitamin C in soft drinks, it causes benzene, a carcinogenic substance. A Food Standards Agency survey of benzene in drinks last year found high levels in four brands which were removed from sale.
Now, an expert in ageing at Sheffield University, who has been working on sodium benzoate since publishing a research paper in 1999, has decided to speak out about another danger. Professor Peter Piper, a professor of molecular biology and biotechnology, tested the impact of sodium benzoate on living yeast cells in his laboratory. What he found alarmed him: the benzoate was damaging an important area of DNA in the "power station" of cells known as the mitochondria.

reason 2:
Lower nutrition in our diet and lead to obesity
Health experts cite soda as responsible for the lowering of nutrition in our diet in two ways. First, soda, sweetened teas and "sports drinks" displace nutrients from milk and juice. Second, even though sweetened drinks contain a lot of calories, they do nothing to curb our appetite for food, and therefore we get a double dose of calories each day, contributing to obesity.

On average, the human body can process about as much sugar as is in a coffee singles sugar packet every day. Pepsi has from 10-15 (I'm not sure the exact number) in each can! That's just one can. The rest of that sugar turns into fat. If you don't excersise, that fat will build up around your muscles and vital organs. This can prove fatal, as it can restrict your breathing, constrict your airways, and couse your heart more strain to pump. I suggest you stop drinking pepsi any more than once a day, and if you do, go for a walk after you drink.

Of course it is. What do you think is in Pepsi? Soda is just chemical crap. It has no food value whatsoever, it satisfies nothing because drinking it just makes you want more, it has caffeine, which hurts your sleep, damages your nerves and it ruins your teeth.
Do you know that you are an addict? Try giving it up and just drinking water. I bet you will have trouble, or headaches or cravings. Think about how you like being a puppet of the soda companies? It looks like innocent stuff, but it isn't. Good luck, I hope you can get "off" of it!

Yes it is really bad for you, I too drink about 24 a day...and I know that it reeks hell on my body. I can't loose any weight and my teeth have taken a serious downfall from all the sugar. It also reeks havic on your kidneys, I have had two ppl in my family who have had kidney problems because of their soda intake. I also honestly believe that I am addicted to the caffine. I know ppl don't think that it is possible, but when I don't have a soda, I get severe headaches.
