When a lady in India, stands up for her legal rights and especially when she tries to bring out the reality of her in-laws and husband, they often put false blame on her and put mental pressure on her to withdraw the case or do something so that reality does not come up in front of everyone. I have also put the request of DNA test to be done for my husband's iligitimate child, and indirectly he is putting pressure on me through various sources as he and that lady is currently on Bail and were arrested last year. They can be jailed for 7 years as per Indian Law in crime of BIGAMY. If our Indian Court only dont help women to exercise their legal rights then where should one ask for her rights? Do you know of any support groups who can actually help me to get justice and put them behind bars for 7 years as per Indian Law?

Offence of Bigamy no doubt is a very serious but proving this offence by sufficient evidence is more difficult. Here let me point out for your information & for the information of your lawyer if they are not aware that in order to prove the charges of bigamy in a criminal complaint you are supposed to prove both the marriages of the accused, by sufficient evidence. Mere admission of his both marriage is not sufficient here what all is to be proved that the actual complete marriage ceremonies between the parties which are applicable to them according to their religion, customs & usage. A Hindu marries another Hindu, preforms a ceremony of marriage according to Hindu rites but doesn't get the most important part of this whole ceremony preformed which in such a case of a Arya Samaj marriage or a North Indian Sanatan Marriage or any regional Marriage according to their customs & usage where performing of Saptapadi that is taking of seven steps before the sacred fire each step signifying one vow & hence taking seven vows in total is necessary for completion of the type of marriage, then such marriage will not be said to be legally preformed, even if one step less is taken in Saptapadi it still remains incomplete performance of such a marriage. So what you have to prove in the bigamy case that the accused got married & preformed the complete ceremonies of the marriage that was applicable to him & that too in both the occasions. Get sufficient evidence for both his marriage (both the priests who preformed both the marriage & at least one witness each for both the marriage, who saw the complete marriage ceremonies) & complete ceremonies he has undergone for both these marriage which were applicable to him due to his religion, custom & usage & I will see he goes behind the bars for sufficient period of time with fine.
