The age depends on who you talk to.
Sunnis say yes she was 9 but that she already reached puberty(thats considered when you are an adult in Islam) and that back then people married girls that young. Some Sunnis also say she was 12 and not 9.
Shia say she was 17 or 18 because authentic hadith periods of reporting by years fit her at 17 or 18. I should mention Shia are known for being the experts in Islamic history and are careful with hadith.

People who keep posting that to somehow discredit Muslims forget that at the time it was common practice. Christians at the time married girls just as young. Mary was only 12 or 13 when she married Joseph and gave birth to Jesus, and she was considered old for a bride.
