what does it matter if it is not a technically a question ... what harm is it doing
what does it matter if someone doesn't agree with your beliefs... everyone is entitled to an opinion and you may learn something you didn't know before
what does it matter if it is a statement , a prayer request , a joke .....
to me in my opinion ... all of the above can be spiritual and learned from
and this is religion and SPIRITUALITY after all
not just religion
so if you dont like something , why not just by pass it
save the reporting for trolls who are nasty
live and let live eh...
too much hate already in the world

I did TCC ... very sad
and to answer Testie there lol
people use the rules and take them far to literally
the rules that are in place gives people reason to report
I know most of the reports against me have been for hugging or chatting ... yes I broke rules
but come on hugging and saying I love you or whatever it was I said

Pangel, I could NOT agree with you more. The Answers violation notices that I have recieved are totally ridiculous and YET I have seen posts go by that are SO out of line that they make me sick to my stomach.
I only report direct threats of bodily harm, veiled or not, porn (there ARE kids here) and the use of FOUL languange (the 7 deadly words that you can't say on TV) All else, I just let pass.

I don't think one report should earn a violation notice--if a question or answer hasn't had at least five reports, it should be ignored by Y!A. It also seems, according to some answers I've seen in the past, that there is no specific formula for getting an account deleted/suspended--some lose their account with only a couple violations, while others have lots of violations, yet do not lose their account. Are there ANY firm guidelines on this?
As far as reporting, I'd never report unless it's for pornography or hate speech. And I don't think I've reported even once yet. As for *hugs*, prayers, raids or chatting, I think it's ridiculous to report stuff like that. Maybe the report button should be limited in it's use? Say, once a week? Then maybe the "reportalots" would save their flags for serious offenses.

In the world of Dungeons and Dragons, your overall Character, if defined by what you just said, would be the Chaotic Good type. That means that you don't mind if rules are broken (Chaotic) as long as what was being done was for the good (Good).
I'm more the Lawful Neutral type. I believe that if you have agreed to follow the rules of this site in order to have access to it, then you darn well need to do what you agreed to or I'm likely to report your butt (Lawful). Doing other than what you agreed to is just plain old dishonest, and I don't have any respect for people who are dishonest. I also think that as long as a person is following the rules, their behavior should be allowed, even if it offends someone (Neutral). If the offended person doesn't like it, they can always try to get the rules change or just leave the site.
If you really think it's O.K. not to follow the rules (Chaotic) as long as it serves YOUR purpose (Good), then how do you feel about people who don't follow the rules (Chaotic) in order to serve the opposite purpose (Evil)? They are pretty much the same thing in my eyes, considering that either way you go, you're ignoring the fact that rules have a very important purpose: to protect people and keep order.
Edit:
I wanted to make sure that I clarifyied this. I'm more likely to let a person know they are breaking the rules, than to report, just in case they are not aware. I am also, not one of those types that reports for every little tiny thing. However, if someone is being very obvious in their rule breaking and keeps doing it over and over, then I will definitely report. For anybody who has been a member of this site for more than a year, you definitely KNOW how terrible some of the members used to act before we had all the checks and balancing we have now. Oh, and as far as the hugging is concerned, I don't think it's against the rules as long as you make sure it's attached to a question.

Your so right. Maybe it isn't a question per say but a way of gauging peoples reactions to what you have to say. People want this area to be about their beliefs and spirituality and not that of others. This section is for everyone. You are a very spritual being and I admire your loving, kind ways. The only time I ever reported anyone was
1. a person had called someone the n word. NOT OKAY!
2. A guy named !CANCER was talking about raping and sodomizing the females on here.
I am sorry you have been reported for such trivial things Pangel. Don't let them get you down. I love your questions, your rants, your chatting and most of all your hugs. I was reported for something rediculous as well. It's very annoying. Just know that there are many of us who appreciate all of your contributions.

Blessings.

This is true! But at the same time this is a discussion formum and not all people will agree with each other. This is a way for people to express how they feel without being killed. At least a thumbs down or a report being sent isn't making someone die over believing one thing or another. It is kind of safe if you ask me. I don't need no more bruises, man oh man I got enough already.. haha :))

I have to agree with Testicular whatever the name is (sorry lol)
Its called answers. And the button up the top there says ask. Its not the place for non questions and prayer requests. Another forum may be.
I do only report people for racism/ spam or any hate answers. But all the rest I just ignore.

Pangel - you know that I love you. But, I have to disagree...
If it is not a question, then it doesnt belong on the boards... Posting a rant makes other legitimate questions "disappear" off the front page quickly, preventing those of us with real questions from getting quality responses. Prayer requests - same thing. Go to another site that specilizes in prayer requests, not here, as I do not pray and do not want to read about it.
Truth is, this site has rules. No rules, and you have a free-for-all. If that happened, this place would be like it was months ago - you and I having our accts deleted due to the rest of the fundies and their intolerance...
Dont get me wrong - Im not one of those that reports often. But, when I come here and open my mail and see that Ive been reported and really havent made any violations, I tend to log on and report REAL violations as they arise. And, I dont report people I dont agree with. I report people that fcalls others RETARDED or stupid, use profanity or pornography, or do not post ligitimate questions.

Pangel, can I report you for not putting a hug in this post?
(((((((((PANGEL))))))))))))
Lot's of thoughts come to mind when thinking about these vindictive arch-reportalots: lighten up, get a life, go away, were you beaten as a child?, etc. I'm with you, sweetie. There are so many Q's to pick and choose from here, if ya don't like one then just shine it on and keep on truckin'.
Kinda like an AA meeting on here . . . take what you like and leave the rest. Just don't be a toad about it!

The only things I report are spam answers that don't address the question.
Reporting questions is the coward's way of saying he doesn't have any answers.
And Pangel, keep spreading the love no matter what. I love you too, even if you are a Sassnacht.
Oh, btw, Batgurl. Why would you bother to report the use of the "F" word, since it gets bleeped anyway.
