I have never gone fishing before but it sounds like fun! I really need to know though because my reputation is on the line!

You don't need to worry about reputation. =P
Just go and have fun with dad fishing. Trust me, it will be one of many memorable things you will remember about your childhood when you grow up.
And no, you're right, it's NOT dorky... it's fun!
Please try not to listen to whoever said it was "dorky" -- a friend would never say that, in fact, a true friend will want you to be happy to spend time with your father. Do what you feel is right and don't listen to people saying "don't do it cuz you'll ruin your reputation... blah, blah, blah".
I think that you have more than rights to make a decision on your own that other people won't have to force you to do it.

Your not being dorky. I go fishing with my dad all the time and it`s really fun. Besides you shouldn`t worry about what other people think about it. It`s just fishing. Just go ahead and have fun!

If you think it's something you would enjoy...try it once. There is no unwritten rule that says once you fish, you must continue to fish.
It might be something that you really enjoy and provides good bonding time for you and your Dad. Why shoot it down before you even try it.
If you are afraid of your rep being tarnished, don't tell anyone you are going until you find out if it's something you enjoy.
Be up front with your Dad and let him know you will try it once to see if it's something you will want to do again.
Let loose and have fun with it!

Why would going fishing with your father be bad?
My daughter goes fishing with me all of the time.
If your friends think spending quality time with your father is
dorky then I suggest you get new friends.
Never ever ever forget this. NO ONE I mean NO ONE loves you like your father and mother. Your friends will dump you in a heartbeat. ONLY your family truely loves you.
