Treat others the way you want to be treated.

If you would marry someone from the gender of your preference, why deny others the same right?

If the laws of Man violate the laws of God, we would be righteous to obey God's Law and not Man's. Many people did exactly that during the Dark Ages, when it was illegal to own a Bible or have even a page of Scripture on your person. They read it anyway, and sometimes they were tortured and killed for it, but their reward in Heaven would be great because they were obedient to Him unto death.
Human laws really only exist for sinners who live outside of the Law of God. Those who live under God's Law need not fear punishment by human laws, if the government also lives by God's Law.
Also, why are gays so up-in-arms about the right to marry? If they want to act like animals anyway, why bother sanctifying it with marriage? Are they feeling "guilty" about it?

The problem with the issue of homosexuality is the absolute insistence on not being consistent (and I know I'm gonna' get flamed for this...) By this, I mean, that the whole movement declares to the world that either a) God made me/us this way! or b) I/We choose to be this way! However, the rebuttal argument could be made, according to science and its declarations of genome/behavior mapping that if God or Nature made you this way and science says that behavior can be biochemically codified, then a society could theoretically 'make' someone hetero- or homo- sexual. People will say it sounds fascistic and pseudo-Nazi, reminiscent of the Third Reich's horrific experiments with humans, but then the subsequent response from the homosexual group is, "Wait, no, it's NOT in our genes, we CHOOSE to be this way!" To which one could respond, then it is your choice to sin, (or at the very least, be non-reproductive).

What is not addressed in the question, is the ability to not marry. If you say, "I was born with this..." I say, "then it is in your genes and it can be fixed or cured, like a disease." You rebut with, "Well, no, actually, I chose this lifestyle..." In which case, "You have chosen this life..."

I am a heterosexual male, and not a christian. I feel that same sex marriages should be acceptable. Homosexuals are people too. There is want, desire, love, work and pay taxes, not to mention rights protected by the United states Constitution. There is also supposed to be a church and state separation. This is to protect ALL people and religions.

I'm not likely what you'd call a christian, but I'll answer anyway.

What has the law to do with love?

There are sometimes advantages to being legally unmarried too.

Is it a question of being able to be with the one you love? no.
Is it a question of being able to have legal rights such as power of attourney and such? no, those could always be done.
Is it a question of tax benefits? perhaps.
Is it a question of societal and religious acceptable. most likely - and most problematic.

If you understood the meaning of marriage from the other's point of view, perhaps you would not be so keen about allowing same sex marriages.

You think not allowing them are wrong, by saying the definition that people have about marriage is wrong.

You just made another group wrong and want them to conform to your ideas...how is that different?

I just gave you proof that the Catholic religion supports gay rights! And you thumbed me down. I am not sure that anything anyone could say to you would make you happy. I am sorry but I don't understand what the heck you want us to say! I am sorry.
