They have absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ! So why did mankind create this false idols? Why is it that he replaced the meaning of the crucifixion with a bunny rabbit? Dec. 25 Is about the birth of Christ. Why did he choose to focus more attention on a guy dressed in red with a big beard? If the ACLU wants to eliminate just these false idols: BE MY GUEST!!! But the ten commandments and anything to do with Jesus is a different story.

If not for these characters, no one would be celebrating Christian holidays! Name one Christian holiday without an imaginary character.

You are right - they have absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ. They are leftovers of paganism that were adopted by the Catholic Church, who passed them down to the Protestant churches, whopassed them down to secular society today. Did you know that in the original New England colonies in our country's birth, it was illegal to celebrate Christmas? That's because they actually studied their Bibles and knew that Christmas was a pagan holiday.

Um... the rabbit and the egg were symbols of fertility that pre-date Christ, and were used to celebrate the Spring Equinox.

The decorating of evergreen trees was (I believe) a tradition that started in Scandinavia, in order to celebrate the Winter Solstice and the fact that the dead of winter was over and the Sun was returning.

It's not their fault that Christians adopted the symbols in their effort to convert the Pagans to Christianity. "Here - you can keep your celebrations, we'll just pretend that they mean something DIFFERENT now..."
