If we run home with our tails between our legs, they are gonna chase us and ultimately defeat us, That is why I am afraid of having a democrat in office, because if we do, WE ARE DEAD, And for all of those who say "I don't want another kid dead in Iraq" When they join the military, they are SERVING THERE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!
And sometI'mes that is the price, yes it is sad, but they died for something they love, and had the balls enough to protect!!!
Something that is going away very quickly im afraid!!!
I say GOD BLESS THE TROOPS AND THERE LEADERS!!!!

They don't want the "democratic process" in Iraq. Iraqis don't want the same system of government that we have. Think about it, does our government really protect its citizens. No, our government doesn't do **** but **** stuff up around the world while making the lives worse for its own subjects. The Iraqis see this and want to be lead by their religious or tribal leaders. So the **** what. what does that matter to us. The troops have no business in Iraq and should be withdrawn. Theres no reason to continue this conflict because too much has already been committed to it. Only more will be lost and nothing will be done. Even their puppet prime minister wants the United States out and he was appointed by the United States. No country gets stronger through the "democratic process." Countries get only more inefficient. The system of government has nothing to do with the rights given to the people. That is a lie that the United States teaches children from a young age. Freedoms do not come from the government, they are only encroached upon by the government.

As usual you ASSUME there in lies your problem. You ASSUME there is a job that can be finished sorry not in the cards. This has turned into a nasty personal civil war between tribes and factions of tribes we are just in the way. The Iraqi govt is a total joke that won't survive no matter what we do to prop it up. We have had these experiences before like Vietnam the govt in the south had all the help it needed and all it did was squander it's resources and as a result was cut off by congress it was crushed in a matter of months afterward. It's own corruption killed it as it had more than enough military gear to keep the north at bay for years. We even supported the govt of Cuba until it was over run. My point is that the Iraqi govt is deeply and fatally flawed by the same sectarian bigotry that is rampant in IRAQ.

I think the tactics definitely need to be changed, but we can't leave until we've accomplished what we set out to do. The regime change took place. Now Iraq is in shambles. We made many mistakes at the beginning of the war. We tried to correct those mistakes on the Iraqis' terms.
I think some of those mistakes could have been avoided and we could have been finished a year or so ago. What do I know? I'm a mere sergeant.
The experts are the ones who watch the war on tv. Just look at how many thumbs down I will get for supporting what I do.

If we pull all of our troops out now, with no governing body (Democratic or otherwise) & no U.S. military presence... who's to say WHO will take over the running of the country. The Iraqi people who want a new government need some sort of help/support, if we up & leave they will end up resenting us. They will never trust us again. We have to do the best we can to ensure some sort of peace & reconstruction in Iraq. I'm not saying it was right or wrong to get involved in the first place but Saddam Hussein was killing innocent people by the hundreds of thousands... would it have been humane of the U.S. to turn a blind eye? THINK OF THE HOLOCAUST, THINK DARFUR!!! Some say there were no weapons of mass destruction... a single gun can do mass destruction if you reload it enough times.... Ultimately I think it will come down to a lesser of two evils scenario for the Iraqi people & for The U.S.
All I can say is good luck to the human race!!!

I completely agree with you Angel. I along with my AF husband as well as military friends are sick and tired of the Democrats telling the military what to do. They are not over there they don't know what's actually going on. They only know from what they see on the t.v. and read in the newspapers. I have had friends with spouses fighting over in Iraq and they are sick of it too. They believe what they are doing is right. Now they have a larger contingency of troops things are starting to look up a little. They still have a Long way to go. The Iraqi government needs to get off its butt and get their country on the right track.

consider this:
according to a recent government study, al quaeda is just as strong now as they were in 2001 - so we're not really hurting the worst of the terrorists.
iraq had nothing to do with any of the 9/11 attacks.
staying in iraq is creating a huge refugee crisis - millions of iraqis are fleeing their homeland.
over 600,000 iraqis have been killed.
almost 4,000 american troops have been killed.
the iraqi parliament is taking the entire month of august off for vacation, virtually ensuring that they will have nothing done in time for september.
and here's the worst thing about iraq:
WE'RE NOT GETTING ANY PAYBACK FOR THE 9/11 ATTACKS THERE.
why stay somewhere where what you are doing isn't working, that costs $12 billion a month.
the american public needs COMPELLING REASONS to stay there, not empty headed jargonistic slogans.

To believe the Iraquis can form a Democracy from a 1,000+ years of Islamic(theocratic) influence and 3 hateful sects in a few months, or even years, is a form of self-delusion in which I do not care to participate.
The bigger issue is our war on terrorism, not attempting to spread the alien concept of Democracy to peoples who cannot conceive the benefits thereof.
On the other hand, we should not "pull out" either. We should pull back and gain some "breathing" space for our troops in which it can be decided when and where they can most effectively be utilized to the greatest effect of destroying terrorists and Islamic fanatics. The current usage of placing them in harm's way amidst the jumbled populations of large cities is not an efficient method of anti-terrorism.
Let's make the terrorists commit to offensive operations instead of simply picking us off a few at a time on the streets and roadways of Iraq. We have the power to commit forces rapidly and in overwhelming force whenever and wherever the terrorists choose to congregate or assemble for operations.
Simply to stand and fight, especially in your enemy's "back yard", is seldom a good reason for combat - ask the French about Dien Bien Phu!

To understand the groundtruth unreported by the media and understand why Iraq is so important, read my blog:

Of particular note to your contention is:
"Know your enemy-101" and "The Caliphate" but many of the other articles would also be of interest to you, from the perspective of a veteran of both fronts in the war on terror.
