And, pray tell, how does one "feel" the burning without having a brain with which to sense?

Its a crock, I say! A Crock!

If there is no body(which is cremated) only the Jeevan(Soul) remains--Soul can not be burned.

"Nainam chhindanti shastraani, nainam dahati paavakaha
Na chainam kledayantyaapo, Na shoshayati maarutaha"
(Verse 23, Chapter 2 - Saankhyayoga, sri.Krishna in Srimad Bhagavad Gita)

Translation:- "The soul can not be cut by weapons--it can NOT be BURNED by Fire--nor it can be dissolved by water or (any solvents)---or it can not be dried by Air.

If we go to hell, our souls will burn. Our souls actually feel more than our physical bodies. That's why we begin to physically hurt when something makes us extremely sad or mad. That's the way God made us. Now just imagine feeling the opposite of that pain....imagine having everlasting joy, love and life. It's all available through Christ Jesus. Even though we still experience pain right now, these things are temporary and will pass away just like our physical bodies. But, when Jesus returns, those who have believed in and followed Him will not suffer anymore. As a matter of fact, God will give us peace right now. That way no matter what we are going through, all is ok in Him. Just call on Christ's name as Lord and Savior of your life, ask for forgiveness of your sins, repent (turn away from your sins; ask God to strengthen you in your weaknesses) and follow Him. Then, you will be saved and no part of you will ever have to burn.

1 love in Christ.....

Emily Brooks answered this correctly.

And after a body resurrects from the dead, it will never die a physical death again. Those going to Heaven will be glad of this. On the other hand, those going to hell will wish they can die so they can stop feeling the burning flames.

I assume you are talking about the myth of a burning hell.
You are right in your conclusion that it does not make sense.
I am a Christian, but have learned that there is no burning hell.
Hell is the common grave of mankind.
Why would God be in cahoots with the Devil, by sending the bad ones to him?
That does not make any sense.

Read below for Biblical proof on what Hell really is...
It makes complete sense.

Ever heard of, "burning desire", "hot with envy", "fiery rage"? We use metaphors to explain how our spirits "feel" when, in fact there is no feeling because it not a tactile experience. I don't know because I have not been to hell, but I believe that God is telling us that our souls (spirits, etc) which are God-seeking, will ache (have a burning desire) for God - but have no hope of ever seeing Him. It is the HOPELESSNESS that will be the fuel for the burning of our souls. No prospect of ever being in contact with our creator, our God, our dad. Just countless weeping souls realizing that they CHOSE wrong - to be without goodness - for eternity.

Sensible Christians will say that Hell does not cause physical pain, but "emotional pain". I've wondered that one myself for a long time. I guess it is just as scary though. I don't want to spend eternity with a bunch of emo kids.

Nothing. Your question gives no reference, beginning or end. Therefore, nothing burns because you put nothing into the fire. Pops
