My Grandmother had twins of these dogs and they were so cute and affectionate, though somewhat active as puppies. They do not require much excersize - 1 walk a day around the block is enough. Oh yeah, they are called West Highland White terriors, or Westies for short!
These dogs love people and, though will not buckle under when challenged, doesn't pick quarrles with other dogs. Their coats are white, however, so he will need a regular bath, maybe once a week. He is also a good gaurd and will use a sharp voice to warn off strangers. He makes a great family friend or a companion PAR EXCELLENCE for someone living on their own.

No puppy is going to be lazy or able to stay at home alone. I had a Boston terrier that was very independent and slept a lot when she was older. You may be able to check a recue group for whatever kind of dog you decide on. They usually have dogs that are a little bit older and already house trained, plus it's great to able to rescue a dog that needs a home and not support the "puppy farms" that pet stores get their puppies from.

ok well we have a westie/welch corgie mixed dog and they are pretty good they are kinda hyper but most puppies are and they do have some problems later on in life as getting obese because they are lazy so i would recomend these dogs but don't get a labrodor they get big you could get a snouser (not sure if i spelled that right) they don't get real big they are about a medium sized dog i would say. but search for some pics of those dogs i refered to and maybe one of them will suit you. so i hope you have some good luck. i have answered all of your dog questions you have been asking so maybe some of them will help but i think this would be the one if you chose between all of them. well good luck again. bye.-justine-

I would suggest a Chihuahua. I have one and he is sitting on my lap right now. He sleeps with me in the mornings and doesn't chew up furniture even as a puppy. He is VERY alert when people come and NEVER leaves my side. The only thing about chihuahuas are that they are mainly a one person dog and will bond with just you for the most part. Will tolerate other family members but will like you the most. Also they are not very tolerant of children. Hope this helps you out!

most small breeds were bred to be companions and do not tolerate being home alone most of the day.
um get a stuffed dog, it is small, very lazy, will sleep with you, and does not mind staying home by itself at all.
edited to add an "independant" dog like a terrier is not good left home alone either.. they need something to do, and if you dont give it to them, they find something to do.. ussually by being destructive!

No such breed.. it all depends on the personality of the animal.. most SMALL dogs, are barkers.. they also tend to be easily excitable and get nervous easily.. so they are not generally lazy..

I know a great dog for you!! You should get a Chiwawa. They are small cute, somewhat lazy, affectionate, and they're just so cute. If you ever get one, you should name it Cha-Cha. A great name for a Chiwawa.
