As safe as conditions allow. And any condition requiring 4wd means slow. And you shouldn't even consider how fast you could go. Remember four-wheel drive means conditions where traction is limited and that does not include rain.

You see it all the time 4X4 flying over hills driving very fast off road is for the likes of BAJA 1000 drivers in specially prepared trucks. Time for a little home work! dig that owners manual out. In section 5 page 19 and up. You should not use 4 wheel drive on hard surfaces and if you have electronic locking differential not to use it above 12 miles an hour. To get in there and out again with out replacing expensive parts drive slowly walking or slow running speed. 10 miles an hour you will have time to react and it helps to have a army shovel and another person to act as spotter. Spotter duty is to direct your front right wheel the right path. Your truck is a quite capable off road machine take the running boards off and join a off road club. Find a good self service car wash or buy a pressure washer to clean up before the mud hardens on. Have fun be safe drive slow off road

I don't know if this will help or not but I drove my 2000 Ford f-150 4x4 offroad 16 MI. at 70MPH. in 4x4 high. with no problems. Ford said it wouldn't hurt it once in a while but a steady diet could mess up the tranfer case and transmission. Not to mention the front hub's.I would call Nissan ,see what they say.
