ive heard that root canals can be horrendous or pain free so im not really sure how to prepare myself. ive had a crack in my tooth which caused some exposure to the nerves and my dentist told me that i MIGHT need a root canal. does anyone know the extent of pain?

Completely and totally honest? I've had two: one was what I would call "excruciating" :-( The other, however, was nothing more than "annoying".

Hate to say it, but it depends on the tooth, depends on the dentist, depends on your pain tolerance......... it just plain depends.

I know, not much help here.

I think that is highly individual...I know the pain I went thru with my root canals has made me decide to have an extraction before I will ever suffer another root canal. But that is just me. You will have to wait and see I guess.

You shouldn't have alot of pain. Your jaw might be soar from being open for an hour, and you can always support that with your fists under your chin. Also maybe some discomfort in the injection sight.

It's a lotta pain brother and im feeling really sorry for u. Ask the dentist to give u a nice dose of pain killer or that stuff wat they call it to make u unconscience.
