my 15yr old will go to court on Weds. before last summer, he was never in trouble before, he has 6 mo that he could go to a juvenile jail for. when he turned 13 our family of 5 started the vicous cycle of divorce, and I do mean vicous.I was together with his Dad for 23 yrs,3 beautiful sons we were blessed with, so not all bad.
yes, my son done wrong, he didnt cause any harm to anyone, but still he broke the law. I really feel devistated. I have watched my baby boy just change before my eyes. he has ALWAYS been a good kid,im not using divorse as an excuse for his behavior, but honestly,i do beleive that a divorce can cause such devistation, and it is so over-looked.
I truly feel that it is like a death in a family, but you have no one person to mourn. there is no body, you are all just, broke, you will not ever be the same, you lose your self identity as you have always known it.
i am very scared for my son. will you please say sincere prayers for him ? thank you, from my heart.

Oh I prayed for you!
I have to say that divorce is a horrible thing and it happend to me too. I have a 13yr old as well and an 11 year old (both boys) They are doing great. Keep the faith girlfriend! Pray and believe he'll work it all out for you, don't worry (that is a sin) and don't feel guilty (that is a sin too) just believe with all your heart that God will deliver you through prayer and wait on his deliverance. Things will get much better I'm sure!

Grace and mercy to you sister!

I will pray for him and you and the rest of the family. I'm sorry you are having to go through this trial. But I do believe that God has a reason for everything. God may be using this experience to cause your son to consider spiritual matters. It may actually help him to grow up and think seriously about the way his life is heading. God can soften his heart to the point of repentance and accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior and this would be a wonderful thing. He is young. God can use him in a great way. I have heard many testimonies of born-again believers who came from prisons and all kinds of bad circumstances only to have their lives turned around by the Lord. Now their lives are on track and they are productive, joyful people. Often people hear the gospel clearly for the first time in prison, how Christ died for their sins and rose again and will forgive them and help them to live for Him. My advice to you is pray, trust God and leave the situation to Him. Encourage your son to read the Bible (New Testament). God is in control and He knows what He's doing.

I am so sorry your family is hurting. If you don't mind a Wiccan sending good thoughts your way, you got them!

Divorce hurts kids alot - my brother and I were kids when our parents split. My brother did alot of really nutty things. He was in trouble some.

The absolute best thing you can do is simply love your son. Even tho your world fell apart when you divorced, your son's world fell apart even harder. As an adult, you have better use of logic and control of emotions. As a young man, he is still working to develop those parts of his brain - really. He is working hard to understand what is happening and why he feels the way he does.

Please, take the time to find a good Christian counselor. If you have a church affiliated social service agency in your area, call them! Here, we have Lutheran and Catholic Social Services. They are wonderful places for counseling and usually employ social workers - not psychiatrists. You son doesn't need medication, he needs to talk. He knows he can talk to you, but he really needs to talk to someone that isn't in the middle of all of this. A counselor is trained just to be a listening ear and to offer thoughts and ideas. Sometimes, young men take these offers from strangers better than their own parents.

Just know that your goal now is to keep this situation in perspective for your son. This is just a blip on the screen compared to the rest of his life. Help him see his errors and move beyond it. You are a great mom -

((hugs)) Lots of us will be thinking about you.

I do not pray. But, I would say that maybe this will be a lesson for your son. You are right that divorce can led people , especially young kids down the worng road. It seems that when things like this happen the "bad crowd" can smell ot like a wolf on the hunt and they get a hold of a young child and these things happen. I hope that your son does learn his lesson and never has to tangle with the criminal justice system again.
There is a bright side this maybe the wake up call he needs to straighten him out.

Your son committed a crime he has to pay for that crime... Children go through divorces and other family tragedies every day without turning to crime.

Your son made a choice and his choice has lead him to court.. Stand with him and be there while he pays his debt to society. Use it as a learning experience, stop trying to lessen his responsiility by using the divorce as a crutch to explain his behavior.. You are doing both him and society a disservice by doing so..

Yes divorce changes things but changes do not give anyone the right to commit crime..

Get your head in the game.... Your sons need you and with your current mindset dwelling on the tragedy and devastation you are not fully there for them ... Put the past behind you and start building the future..

This will be a lesson for your son. . . that with every choice we make there will be consequences and the best thing you can do is own up to it, learn from it and move on. We all make mistakes. . . .when you know better you do better.

I would encourage you to seek some counseling for your son. Divorce is most often harder on the children. Your son may need someone outside of the picture to talk to.

I will say a prayer of peace for your family.

Yes, your son and you are in my prayers.

Now, on the practical side, you need to get your son a mentor. Your pastor, a decon, someone to be a strong Christian male role model for your son. This role model will be able to handle the I dont want you arounds's from this young man. Again, I am talking a strong Christian role model, one that will not give up on a mouthy, hurting younster.

I will pray for this man as well, you will all need God's wisdom and guidance in this matter.

For every action there is a reaction...and your son needs to learn there is a consequence to his misdeeds...he also cannot blame his actions on the failure of his parents marriage or anything else.

This is the problem with the world today...no one takes personal responsibility for their actions. I pray that your son will become a better person throughout this ordeal...that he will learn his lesson and find value to his life, so that he can lead it more fully.

I pray that you will have comfort....and that you will be steadfast in your support for your son, but firm in the knowledge that your son must learn his lesson.

Best of luck to you.

Come on, you guys -- it's NOBODY's business what he did...and why assume it was drugs??? If you'll volunteer to say a prayer for this person's son, say so, and if not, don't ask nosy questions that are not your right to ask.

I for one will pray for your son. God bless your family!!
