I agree...I just pass time here...however, it is easy to be antagonized and come out swinging...especially at the small-winded, right wing-nut fundies out there.

If someone comes here with an honest question and we Christians are not here to answer then we are of no use. What good is a candle if it does not shine it's light into the darkness? Because we do not see the fruit of our work does not mean there isn't any. We are not the one that picks the fruit after all.
Perhaps some of us take attacks a little too personally and forget that Christ too was hated and mocked by this world. Because we are his followers should we expect anything different?
Because Jesus is so dear to us we feel anger and frustration when dealing with those who do not understand the world as we do. Sometimes the internet allows us to say things in a way we would not in person. Just because we feel we are correct or that someone is making a mistake doesn't mean that we should not treat them with love and compassion. If we communicate with arrogance or anger are we properly representing our Lord?
This website is what we make of it. As long as there is hope and a chance that someone can be saved it is our obligation to be here.

So basically you are saying that when the going gets tough, that Christians should go somewhere else? Did Paul do that when riots broke out and people tried to kill him for what he did? Did Jesus go find another site when his disciples abandoned him in the garden? Of course not! Anger, frustration, and sadness is EVERYWHERE. You can't hide from it. Best to face it head-on. That said, a lot of the supposed Christians that come on here could make things better by acting more graceful and, well, Christ-like!

well, the best way to not get any abuse on this site is to not post a question, seems no matter what you ask it's like a kick me sign for some people. But then if nobody asked questions there would be no site. When you just answer the worst anyone can do is give you a thumbs down.

Often times questions are asked with only hatred and ridicule in mind.
I do tell parents that this site is not for children or teens, as the language and the topics are oftentimes worldly.
Yet, I still come here because once in a while, a genuine question is asked and the asker is truely looking for the correct answer or needs to understand the story behind the writings.
When this happens, it makes it worthwhile.

I like you have noticed the same. I've answered over 1000 questions and asked a few only to get 1 person who genuinly or as he wrote "took a deeper look into his life and the kind of person he was". That to me made it all worth it. Some people are sincere in their questions and answers while others just want to stir up trouble and mock one another. I've seen believers and unbelievers act quite rudly towards each other and I can say I'm no exception. I wish we had a button that would let us delete the comments from those who are just in it to stir up trouble and are being straight up rude. Might be a bit time consuming trying to discern the good "mature" comments glittered with a stroke of sarcasm from the bad "knuckle-headed" comments sprinkled with a splash of intelligence.
All in all we have to keep up the good fight and remember we are working unto the Lord.

Midge, I agree with you. I have thought this very thing for a while. I didn't know if anyone else thought the same thing.
Not just for this but, for every deep, tough or controversial subject. Like politics and so forth.
Fellow "Christians" maybe, lay off Midge, she is not saying not to share the love of Christ to people, she is just saying this might not be the best medium in which to do so.

It really is a Sad thing that We Christians cannot Up-hold Our Lord and Savior without Being Scorned. > But Jesus Said "we are Blessed When They Do It."! And He Knew they Hated Him, so we May as well expect to be Hated also, for His Sake. >> OUR FRUIT Is Sharing Jesus With THE BELIEVERS and Having SWEET FELLOWSHIP AMONG OURSELVES While On this Site. (We need to pray for the Lost) To Be Without Jesus Is Like A SHIP WITHOUT A SAIL>+ + +

Hi Midge,
I'm sad only for you or others who express some kind of frustration for the site.
I have experienced a lot of good communication, mostly between Muslims and me, and great expressions of faith.
This is a great site for open communication.
Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

I think it depends on how you react to the questions being posed. If it is a question that angers you, as one that is just stirring the pot, then by all means do not waste your time. Knock the dust from your sandals as they say.
On the other hand if there are seemingly well intentioned questions, by all means, answer it.
For those that you are unsure of, give an honest answer, and make them angry for a change. ;o)

Some Christians are not trained to be here and represent the Gospel. Some of them don't even preach the Gospel, as we are supposed to do. But here is the lesson: What will YOU do? Will you preach the Gospel?
And who will you preach it to? Will you be undiscerning and preach it to those who have no interest? Or will you remain open to those who ask genuine questions?
The one thing I won't do is give up this territory for the devil to take it.
