after removal of the glant you have to take Thyroxin (the hormone produced by the thyroid ) because there are no other sourses . side effects of thyroxin are many and include sweating , feeling of heat , increased heart beat but dont worry you will get use to these and will not be that much a concern .

I had a friend who had a goiter removed.She did fine after operation taking religiously the prescribed medication for maintenance dose. The only side effect resulted is the change of her voice which became a bit harsh, otherwise all the rest was normal.

Many people have had surgery for removing a goiter. They need to take many medications that have side effects. Other than that, they lead normal, happy lives.

My neighbor just had goiter operation, but its only been a week. has a lot of thyroid trouble .
