Dispute the bills, then they have to do all the work of proving that they are yours. In addition you must request that if you settle they will be taken off your credit, in writing or the clock starts over from when you settled instead of two years ago, which will make your credit worse

Are the accounts current? Many times, creditors like to chew up and spit out consumers just for fun. You may have tipped your hand so to speak and let them know the source of the funds. If they smell a loan, they usually want payment in full. A debt settlement company may be able to help. They don't charge you a cent unless they get results and you pay nothing out of pocket, just a small percentage of the savings. Good luck.

There are a bunch of scams out there and a lot of people that will try to rip you off under the guise of repairing your credit. Go with a reputable organization that will help you and not rip you off. I have worked with Consumer Credit Counseling Service for a couple years and they have been great. Check them out at: http://www.cccsintl.org/

They can help you work with your creditors to reduce payments and interest and they have educational information to help you to manage credit better.

Good luck!

Get a credit councilor. They can help. Trinity is a good one.

Or

Pay the lowest one off completely first. Then work on the bigger one. Make sure you pay the minimum on the big one each month and as much as you can on the smaller.
