Seriously. It would have to be tested, etc.

There's no doubt it would have some advantages to what we have today, but would it be practical/impractical.

The idea of it is becoming less science fiction.

I say we'll be seeing Transformers soon...

Cover and concealment is hard enough with the gear that we have.

Technologically they will most likely be able to do what your talking about some day. The question is would it be an asset or just a big target.

Right now a 60 ton tank can be taken out with a weapon that can be carried by 2 or 3 men.

What would be the point of having a "bipedal, walking deathmobile" when some guy walking around can use a man portable weapon system to take it out?

so some sort of ED-209's stomping around? (robocop reference) i would think in the next 50 years it willbe come a relaity... since sometimes wars have to be fought but every one is against the losing of life of ones own country

there already are rolling scout robots in testing... the biggest issue is trusting a machine with a machine gun. but also walking is actually a complicated process

not only the u.s. is working on this. The major countries of the world are preparing for the future of warfare - fully robotic.
also, they don't have to walk, wheels are much faster.
