***I'm with you. I hate when people say that my son should already be potty trained, etc. My son is 2 years and 9 months and he is finally going #1 on the potty and rarely #2. He is not consistent yet. I'm not worried about it. My daughter did not full potty train #2 until she was 3 1/2. Every child is different and who cares anyways. What's a few months? It's not like they are going to be 5 and still not potty trained.***

Forget your mother in law. Girls always train faster, earlier and easier than boys as a rule. Tell her that you do not appreciate her comparisons and that if she cannot kept hem to herself you are going to have to protect your child from her disparagement's and keep her away from him. Let her fawn over the other grands but if she can't contain herself in front of your child she should not be around him to give him an inferiority complex when there is nothing wrong with him and his potty training is right on schedule. Do not let this toxic person poison you and your child

My 3 yr old son is just taking easy to the potty training....and it drives me nuts...as my mom compares him to his cousins (2 boys and a girl). They live right next door to her and we live 3 hours away.
My mom-in-law, who watches my boy during the day, is no help at all! I buy the pull-ups and training pants, but she doesn't use them....THEY LEAK! OMG....that is what they are suppose to do!!! How am I to get him trained!!!
Good luck...the potty training thing....just not an easy task!!!

Don't let her make you feel bad. Girls typically potty train earlier than boys. It sounds like your son is right on track and you shouldn't try to rush him. I have one of each, and I'd say my daughter was about 6-9 months ahead of my son when it came to potty training.

Just let the truth keep you strong and don't let her get to you. The kid is only 2 for God's sake, so he's doing just fine! Try to lighten up a bit sweety! :D Smile! I know it really stinks, but at least grannie is isn't abusing damaging him. If she ends up doing that or you simply can't stand it anymore, don't talk back like I used do haha! It will only aggrivate the situation and the only one paying for that in the end is the kid. Just try to explain it to your husband and ask him to mediate and ease the situation.

Just try not to let it bother you.. My mother in law does stuff like that to me all the time. I am pregnant right now and she is always saying rude and judgmental things to me. I think its written on the code of the world somewhere that mother in laws have to suck.

oh god. my son is 19 months and a LOOOOONG way off. yeah. i've definitely been told that it happens for boys later than girls. if your mother-in-law had boys and girls, maybe you should remind her of what things were like. seriously, though...my son...no...i can't even imagine trying to train him in 5 months.

Boys take longer than girls. That's a fact. Your problem here is with your mil, not your son.
Next time she says something, say "Well lucky for us, not all babies are the same!"
