Yes, some followers of the catholic faith have gone and done wrong things. Yes, preists CAN sin- so does the Pope. Yes we gave these people money, and yes I still give the church money.
Yes we say the 'Hail Mary' but no its not considered praying to her because we only pray to God. We ask her and the saints to pray for us (I consider them my friends thank you very much)

Yes the Pope said we are the true church of Christ, no he did not say if your not catholic your going to hell.

All that being said, I am catholic and I am proud of it- gotta problem?

lilmissy....

Unfortunately, the news media and internet have you-tube visuals as well as reg media visuals and written news and all report what is being done and said....you should do a search for all info...sorry, I do not have links except in the questions I have answered or just starred in my profile when I want to read more on a topic.

you can do a search here in Answers too, but, best if you do it web wide

I try not to bash the individuals whom go to a Catholic church...many of my relatives on my dad's side are catholic after all, lol, but, the Pope and his decisions are open territory for discussion since he is your LEADER of the church and makes your decisions FOR YOU.

God knows your heart, I don't, nor does anyone else. However, If my church (if I had one) had a person whom made the decisions for that church I would want to know what it was all about and not be given half truths by anyone.

Peace be with you. :)

Whoa!!! Atheists purely % peace from the Christians who bash and attack them - No different faith does that - purely Christians. Christians have become attack canines forcing atheists and the different faith to shield themselves and your question underlines it. So called Christian postings at here turn a faith into an ideology (there's a extensive distinction) and hence act to interrupt the religion and act against God. maximum of Christians here look to bypass by using their lives failing to understand that God is approximately "love and reality", not "wrath and punishment". Muslims commit their lives to the worship of God not purely on Sundays yet are pilloried by making use of Christians. in the US Christians have become so voluble and dictatorial in direction of non Christians that a society called American Atheists has began up and is turning out to be very quickly! It skill that regardless of the form the only thank you to maintain faith out of the political area may well be a 2nd civil conflict!!! hence perhaps you ought to turn your question any incorrect way and ask Christians to initiate performing like Christians fairly of dictators and hate mongers!!!!

I have to agree with you, although I am not Catholic, my religion, the LDS (mormon) religion is on the top of the list when it comes down to making fun of our faith. The Pilgrims came here to have a freedom of religion and not to be mocked by what they believe in, even though it was different, nothing has changed since then...in the religion point of view, we should all just let people live what they believe and stop criticizing everyone saying they're wrong and you're right.

Your faith in God is not in question.

Your faith in supporting an organization that condones sexual child abuse is. The Catholic church as an organization is evil and wrong. Your money supports these child predators. Period. There is zero tolerance with hurting children. Your money tells these priests it is ok.

One of the 'problems' in Christianity presently is the division in it. (I realize you personally did not cause it during your life). One of the deviations to God's word is defining the old testament as Genesis-Malachi (which is not scriptural); but the scriptural old testament is the law of Moses (2 Cor.3:13-14 KJV). Can one have the law of Moses, before Moses was born (Exodus 2)? Perhaps that is why atheist and agnostics bash Christianity (Catholics, Protestants, and Mormons).

The bash Catholicism for the same reason some idiot reports my questions as a violation when they are not. They think they can get a rise out of you, the catholic faith has a history of intolerance from the Protestant groups in this country for many years. Just try to understand you are dealing with small minded people

And how long did the Catholic church hide these charges. They knew it was going on for years and all they ever did was just transfer priests to different parrishes. Throughout history there has been corruption and illegal acts in the Catholic church and they have never apologized for many many heinous acts. Not to Christian do you think.

If you can not honestly see how a non-Catholic can look at what has happened in the past few years and have some reservations about the church, you are enabling that church. And its not just non-Catholics as the numbers of catholics keeps shrinking year after year.

Sadly, some people will always bash other's religions, no matter what. Just remember that it is a test of your faith, and if you can withstand it, you are a better Catholic. I'm proud of you for asking such a bold question in a forum like this.

The only problem I have, not with just Catholics but with all religion, is that there is no reason to believe in God or gods. Religion influence public policy which is not fair to those who do not hold the same beliefs. For example, the ban on public funding for stem cell research is solely a religious decision. Also, we are teaching children lies in school about how the world came to be. Religion impedes progress in science.
