Look at your your saved images, how? Are you trying to view .psd files outside of Photoshop? You will not be able to do that. Only Photoshop and Bridge can view psd files. Save as jpg, gif or tif.

If you want to DELETE your preferences.

How to:

A: Hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting Photoshop. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences file.

A2: You can also simply search your hard drive for a *.psp file and delete it. It will be called something along the lines of "Adobe Photoshop X Prefs.psp".

Open and reset your preferences when Pshop starts up.

I am referencing Adobe's "Classroom in a Book."
I have Adobe Photoshop 6.

The "Preferences" file is located in the "Settings" folder.

"The default location of the Adobe Photoshop Settings folder varies by operating system; use your operating system's "Find" command to locate this folder".
