I don't have Google Earth on this pc - and trying to actually see some place via net searches can be awkward.

I did one quick search and can't work it out - small map of the area is no use to me... need to see it with a big overview.

Also is it far from Manchester and does Bedford have good rail links?

Thanks.

I would question Bedford being in East Anglia, as the official area of East Anglia is Norfolk, Suffolk with part of Cambridgeshire and a little of North Essex. However, Bedford is 19 miles north of Luton on the A6 and 173 miles from the centre of Manchester. You can reach it by rail with a selection of trains throughout the day, with either one or two changes, from Manchester. There is also a variety of fares but it is possible to make the journey on Midland Mainline, with an advance ticket for £7.00, but you must adhere strictly to the times etc. as stated on that ticket. Another way of making the journey is with National Express coaches, the fare being £25.90.

I'd say south east midlands. It's about 150 miles from Manchester. Train from Manchester to Bletchley and from there to Bedford. Don't know if this is the quickest way though!

Bedford is in Bedfordshire...which is a county in the east of England. It's about 60 miles from London and 161 miles from Manchester.

From Bedford train station you can get to Manchester with a couple of changes along the way. Midland Mainline trains head north to Leicester and Sheffield. From Leicester you can change to get a train to Nuneaton and from there you can get a train to Manchester. Or from Sheffield you could get a train straight to Manchester. That takes about three hours. There's also good train links to London from Bedford station...Midland Mainline stops at London St Pancras and First Capital Connect stops at several central London stations.

I liked the reply from someone who said it was near Kempston, Yeah been to Sainsburys in Kempston, however if you'd said near to Cambridge or Luton then it might not have been such a funny answer, if they have not heard of Bedford then I doubt they would know Kempston.
