So I am a 16 year old girl and I am re-doing my child-ish room.
I was thinking of making my new room have a french cafe-type theme, but I need some help with this. I was thinking of painting all the furniture black and have the walls white except for an accent wall which would be hot pink and a small wall be a chalkboard wall [paint it with chalkboard paint]. In one of the corners I would like to have a wrought iron circular table and a wrought iron chair.
Ifyou have any suggestions (positive or negative) about my ideas up there ^^^, please leave an answer. Or if you have another idea of a theme for my room, leave an answer! Pictures are definately welcome! Thanks so much!

One idea is to get a small artificial tree about 5 foot or so, maybe like a fig tree or some other one that you like, and add a sting of lights to it, kinda like Christmas lights, but pink or whatever color your accent wall will be, even white is okay. I have one and it's so cute. You could do like 2 of them, it sorta brings the outdoors in. Good luck!

Instead of black may I suggest painting the furniture white? That is a classic French style, and will let it match which ever colours you settle upon. What comes to mind when I think of French style is something like the art of Monet, Manet, and so-forth. Alot of light....light colours, furniture, and flowers. And if you really are set upon the bedroom having a French flair you could even throw in styles from different periods. Pulling from the different periods would let you have a strong eclectic style, letting the accent wall blend in rather than jump out and punch you up side the head. Have fun! :)

1] posters/pix/murals of famous French sites [ Eiffel Tower,
Notre Dame, the Louvre ]
2] posters/pix of famous French products - wine, cheese, Chanel - perfume, clothing, bags, makeup etc.
3] try a print with the white and some pink - flowers, patchwork, quilt, plaid, stripe. Use same print for curtains, and extra pillows
4] collect vintage French perfume bottles for your dresser/dressing table
5] use empty French wine bottle for candle on bistro table
6] make a collage of wine, couture, or makeup brands for any blank spaces

I think it sounds neat, but how many french cafe's do know of that have pink walls? But if it's how you envisioned it then go for it...Your room you have to live in it...

I love your idea, but it needs to be more tied together.
I think your walls that you want white should be painted very light pink because it gives the space more of a theme.
For organization use shelves (try painting them black!) to put sophisticated black and white boxes on (to store cds, magazines, books, clothes/shoes that are out of season, or knick knacks)

On a light wall you should pin up a mural of paris, a rose garden, or a cafe. At PBTeen you can use whatever picture you want and theyll blow it up as a full-size mural.

For your chalkboard wall you could stencil on french sayings in white to make a statement:
un de perdu, dix de retrouvés-easy come, easy go; there are many fish in the sea (lit.: one lost, ten found)
vouloir, c’est pouvoir-where there’s a will, there’s a way (lit.: to want is to be able)
toute vérité n’est pas bonne à dire-some things are better left unsaid (lit.: all truth is not good to say)
tout ce qui brille n’est pas-or all that glitters is not gold
tout soldat a dans son sac son baton de maréchal-the sky is the limit (lit.: every soldier has in his pack a field marshal’s baton; n.b.: attributed to Napoleon)
c'est la vie
"that's life"
c'est magnifique,
"it is magnificent,
Fashions fade, style is eternal.”
Yves Saint Laurent
l'"espoir est le rêve d'une âme éveillée."
Hope is the dream of a soul awake
je t'aime,un peu, beaucoup, passionment, a la folie, pas du tout-
i love him a little, a lot, passionately, to madness, not at all
To make a bed canopy use a curtain wire system to frame a space a little larger than your bed over it, on the ceiling, then attach a you curtains at each end of your bed or at the 4 corners. The clips make it easy to change your look quickly if you get tired of it.

Put a mirror on a dresser or desk as a tabletop and it always adds a sophisticated flair. You could buy a plain table, use fabric that matches your room to drape it with then put the mirror on top with an iron lamp.
