Yes you can. I was advised by my vet to give my 16 year old, over-weight, three legged Golden Retriever, named Cherokee a medication she prescribed that would cost me about $100. per month. After doing a little research, I found that the very same ingredients were found in glucosamine for humans, at a greatly reduced price. He did wonderful on it! I also gave him a baby aspirin everyday because of his condition. It helped keep his pain down. That along with a little love and attention from you everyday will make his last days more pleasant and more memorable for you. Good Luck!

Absolutely! There are a zillion products containing glucosame made especially for dogs. I can recommend three of the best, based on my experience and the experience of friends:
SynoviG-3: I use this for one of my dogs that had knee surgery. Recommended to me by my vet and the orthopaedic vet. Contains glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, Omega 3 & 6 oils, etc. Great comprehensive joint supplement.
Missing Link plus Glucosamine: I used Missing Link for years before they added the glucosamine. Wonderful supplement for the skin and coat as well as the joints. I have several dogs on this still.
Cosequine: I haven't used it, but lots of friends use it. Glucosamine and chondroitin combo recommended by a lot of vets.
Good luck, and I hope the glucosamine helps.

Absolutely! Talk to your vet about dosage. Glucosamine is available at the local pet stores in a chewable tablet, or in liquid form at all the holistic dog stores. I have three of my senior dogs on it on my vet's recommendation.

There are all kinds of joint enhancement products at 1-800-petmeds.com that are formulated specifically for dogs. It's easy to determine the correct dosage if you get products specifically for animals.

You need to contact the vet first before giving the dog any supplements.
