I have an indoor cat and last night I thought I'd take her outside to walk in the grass. This is only the 2nd time I've ever taken her out, but then she just walkked off into some bushes and behind a fence and I couldn't get her to come back. I called her all last night. Now she has been outside overnight and there's still no sign of her. How can I find her or get her to come back. I'm moving in 2 weeks, so I need to get her back soon. Any tips or tricks? Please help.

If you feed dry food, purthe food slowly in a big hollow bucket to enhance the sound. Most pets won't stary too far away from home.
Or, you can ask your local gamewarden to borrow a small animal trap and set wet (stinky) cat food inside and leave it out during the day and through the night and hope he's close enough to smell and want it!
Be wary of what else you may catch though!
Not very many things you can do to catch cats unfortuantely..

Is she spayed? If not, she might have wandered off looking for a mate.

Check any garden sheds or outside buildings, hedges, bushes - basically anywhere that she might be able to hide. Ask all of your neighbours if they've seen her and if they could check their gardens too . If they're not at home post a note through their door with a description or photo of her. If there are cars parked nearby, check those too, as cats will often crawl up into the engine space. Walk around where you live, calling her name to see if she will respond. Call local vets and animal welfare centres just in case she may have been taken there by someone.

Chances are if she's an indoor cat, that she might have been too frightened to wander very far and could be hiding somewhere close by.

I have two indoor cats, both of whom sneaked out on one occasion. Sophie sat crying in a small tree waiting for me to rescue her, but Merlin disappeared into the engine space of a parked car.

I hope you find your cat soon. Good luck

I would suggest keep going out and calling her and maybe taking out some of her food or favorite treats (so if she is nearby you can coax her out - although you may not want to leave food out overnight because it may attract other unwanted animals). You can put some signs up as well (especially if you have a recent picture of her). Make sure to let your neighbors know you are looking for her as well, in case they see her.
I know when my first cat ran away he ended up coming home all on his own (since he was an indoor cat typically he wanted to come home as much as I wanted him to!).
I hope this helps and I hope you find her! Next time, I wouldn't let her outside so close to your moving date as moving will be traumatic enough for her.

Kitties do this if given the opportunity. Invest in a cat harness for the future. For now, put food and water out, and if possible, leave the back door open while you are home, and hang out outside a bit in the evening and try calling for her. Let your neighbors know she is missing and call the vet. If she doesnt come back on her own, someone will find her.

Make posters and put around your neighborhood. Call your local vets and animal shelters, you can give them fliers as well. Make sure you put a phone number that will continue to work after you move. That is extremely important.

Normally cats do come home after a night or 2 on the prowl. Just excercising kitty freedom now. I will keep my fingers crossed that your baby will come home soon.

Call her in a very high pitched voice...if she has a favorite treat she comes for rattle the container while calling her. Like the Pounce plastic ones that make a racket? Also, set smelly food, like tuna, out in a room that you leave a window open just far enough for her to enter, then see what happens.

Call the animal shelter in your area and report it.
call the newspaper and place an ad.
put signs up around the neighborhood.
call a local radio station and ask to please make an announcement
and PLEASE next time walk it on a leash.
Mine never leaves the house without it, and he has to walk at least once a day. (summer and winter)
sounds and looks funny but he knows how to come when his name is called and he knows his way home.
