My wife and I are immigrants, we have been in the U.S. for about two years. We have new DMV licenses, which explains why we are categorized as "new" drivers. I'm in my early 40's, my wife is in her mid 30's, we have 3 kids, both of us have fulltime jobs, and we have been driving back in our country for the past 10-20 years.

most insurance companies do lower rate after you have been with them. i would call your agent, other agents and ask when and if the rates will drop.

Yes.
Most insurance companies will lower rates after you have been driving for 7 years. You may have to call them, but 7 years seems pretty standard for newly licensed people.

However you should talk to your agent to see if you qualify for any other type of discounts. If either your wife or yourself is a teacher/educator or if you are an engineer or doctor, typically they will offer a professional discount. Marriage typically offers a discount, as does multi-cars. Call and talk to your agent and they can help you find the discounts you qualify for.
