Some Christians say "I don't believe in a young earth, I think evolution exists, etc."
OK, sure. Now that you've undermined the infalibility of your book, how can you be certain the parts about Jesus are true?
Isn't the book your only piece of evidence on the matter? If not, then what evidence supports your belief in Jesus' divinity, resurrection, etc?
How do you know the whole story wasn't just made up after the fact, if you do believe that other parts of the Bible are made up?

Schneb, if you're not even going to try to answer the question, don't bother writing anything in response at all. Make your own question.

I believe the whole Bible is true. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that all scripture is inspired of God.
If you don't belive Genesis, especially the entire Creation account then nothing in the Bible makes sense. One reason Jesus came to earth was to die for our sins. Why would he need to do that if Adam and Eve weren't real people and hadn't sinned?(Rom 5:12) And why would there be entire geneologies leading right back to Adam? (Luke 3:23-38)
If you don't believe in Creation, you can't honestly say you believe in the Bible.

Excellent Question!!
I am a Christian and believe the Bible to be inerrent and true.
I make no exceptions. And I base this on sound logic and research.
However
It is not fair to say literal, because there are sections that are obviously not intended to be taken literally.
The genres of the Bible include narrative, poetry, proverbial literature, wisdom discourse, a treaty (that's what Deuteronomy is, believe it or not!), legal codes, genealogies, biography (that is what the Gospels are!), personal letters and general letters, rhetoric (an art form in the ancient world), riposte, and apocalyptic. Treating each one as a newspaper -- written yesterday and with our own ideas in mind -- is a mistake constantly made by critics who impose their own absurd genre-demands on the text.

you recognize you asked a great question and to respond to you, sure i think that the Bible is a hundred% actual. I recommend some issues interior the Bible i do no longer thoroughly understand and that i've got prayed for information. i do no longer think of everyone replaced the Bible to make the Christian faith extra appropriate b/c God needs us to make our on minds up he does not want to stress everyone to love him or have faith in him. i've got in no way study the scripture you stated the place the guy became stoned for engaged on the Sabbath and if it did ensue i do no longer think of you are able to blame God because of the fact human beings tend to often take the message and be conscious interior the Bible out of context. working example whilst Jesus stood up for the girl being accused of Adultery many human beings interior the Bible considered this as Jesus asserting her movements the place ok and quite Jesus became declaring that "no another then God might desire to decide her" and that anyone of God's toddlers had the appropriate to be forgiven. So with that stated, sure i think interior the be conscious Of the Bible and that i think it to be actual.

That is the problem with not believing the Bible is the whole Word of God. If it is not, then who will be the arbiter of what is the Word of God and what is not? The Jesus Seminar? Oh yeah, like they know.
The Bible does not contain the Word of God. The Bible IS the Word of God!
Yes, the Bible was penned by man, but the Authorship is undeniable based on the facts of the prophetic word. If my boss sent me a memo asking me to design a project, and I found out that it was actually written by his secretary's assistant, should I ignore it or fulfill it? Is it the word of my boss or a lowly temp? God is the Author of the Bible--yes, this can be proven. Penned by temps? Definitely. Should it be obeyed, or ignored? Is it truly God's Word, or the writings of mere man?
If you choose the ignore the Bible because it is "written by man", then do not be surprised if the Boss fires you for inactivity.

I don't understand how Christians could not believe in the whole Bible. It's a Christians map for life. It's God's teaching to us. It's His way of talking to us and guiding us through life. When they choose what parts not to believe and what parts to believe, they are relying on themselves and their own understanding rather than God and what He tells us.

The Bible clearly has some errors. No army of apologetics can cover them up. There are some facts in the Bible that can be verified. This means that you have to examine read you read, and use critical evaluation. The literalists hate this because it asks people to think for themselves.

How do I know? Through the testimony of modern day prophets. Through personal revelation that comes from prayer and fasting.
