My year old shepard mix dog has been throwing up since 4pm yesterday. He is throwing up white and clear bile... and I am not sure what to do. The vet is really my last resort because he gets very nervous and a little aggressive toward the vet when we go.

Last night he was throwing up every hour or so. Sometimes nothing would come out. I'd say he only threw SOMETHING up 5 times last night but he was gagging. And he has thrown up maybe 4 times today. He seems to start coughing/gagging when he gets worked up or barks...

Help PLEASE!

Get him to the vet NOW! He's probably dehydrated at this point. With a year old dog, I'm immediately suspicious of something being ingested which is not moving. Don't take a chance on this one. Ask your vet for acepromazine to pre-medicate him before taking him in for future visits. Will help calm him down. Good luck.

Sometimes there are non-emergency conditions where you can wait, but this isn't one of them. In fact, you're overdue. His whole system is out of whack if he's pooping undigested food and then passing blood. And throwing up foam means extreme nausea, which means whatever happened is ongoing since it's still in the stomach. This is a drop-everything, get-dog-to-vet, emergency. EDIT: The problem is that the symptoms you're describing point to different things. A small amount of blood in the stool (not enough to turn it red, but just a couple drops) can occur because of irritated lower intestines and is generally not serious if it clears up. But when he's crapping undigested food, this means the stomach isn't digesting it - it's a totally different problem. It can be caused by overfeeding, but that's not the case if he hadn't eaten in the last 12 hours prior. So in addition to the diarrhea he has a definite problem in his stomach, whether there's not enough acid or something else. I'm not a vet, so if your vet is aware of every symptom you mentioned in your question and still says wait, then I guess wait. But I can guarantee I wouldn't be waiting!

GO TO THE VET ASAP, just like humans your dog can get dehydrated from throwing up. your dog might have a virus or even worms in which case he might stay at the vet over night cause of waiting for so long to take him, they may have to rehydrate him

Why are you still here? even if the vet is your last resort (which shouldn't be so), you must realize that this may be the last chance of your dog to survive! Don't wait in front of the computer any more, go to the vet NOW.

Take him to the vet. It sounds like Kennel Cough. My Italian Greyhound has had those symptoms before and it was Kennel Cough.

The chances are is that it's a kidney infection and he is dehydrated. He needs to go to the vet so they can put a IV in him. It will require a operation to fix it, and it does matter how long he has had it. I'm sorry for what happened to him. I wish you and him the best of luck.
