Who knows? And yes.

Having said that, they're the oldest cult on the planet. Hard to shake cults... from what I've been told. Therein lies a good clue...

Good question.

My answer is that it is not the Church itself doing those bad things, but a very few people within it.

If you were to avoid all groups that had imperfect people in them you would never belong to any group, work for any company, eat at any restaurants, heck you would have to live you whole life in isolation, and then you would still have to justify living with even yourself.

As far as Hypocrite? I am a Catholic and I am a Hypocrite. I strive to live the perfect example of Peace, Love and Forgiveness that Jesus gave and I often fail.

That does not mean that I do not try harder.

I became Catholic because I studied the TRUE beliefs of the Church and it fits for me.

Peace be with you!

the word is hypocrite... you're 100% right. I'm latin-american and grew up catholic and the reason people bullsh*t themselves into thinking they are catholic is really only because 'that's the way it is' , it's the same mentality that makes people listen to certain forms of music bacause that's what's popular in their area.

Whether , Latin-american, Irish , Spanish, Italian....Catholics are among the most arrogant and hypocritical clans on the planet. The church is evil and the reason no one runs away from it is because most of it's followers are evil too, like most religons.

Would there be Christianity without the Catholics? Would there be a New Testament for other religions to come and mess up without the Catholics? No No No. The only reason Christianity split was all because Martin Luther wanted to get married so he made a self serving religion. And now when anyone feels like a religion doesn't fit their needs they just break away and start a new one. Why are we Catholic? More like why aren't you?

The Church is merely composed of reedemed sinners, not perfect people. The Church, as flawed though it is, is still the body of Christ. One does not abandon it simply because it errs. THAT would be hippocrasy.

Much of the NT deals with the education, discipline, and rebuking/correcting of others. If churches followed this model more, they would likely have much less of a problem with the behaviour of its members.

It is sad to see how such great organization can sink to such depths. But it would be worse to not to try to lovingly work to correct it...

Soli Deo Gloria!

Cause all have choice and just the same lots do fallow false Prophets, Cults, False beliefs and lots of people do not open the Word Of God (The Bible) and read it to see, and hear the truth get the true Knowledge of God.

Most just take what some one tell them the Priest, Minister, Cult leader, False Prophets has to say. If we will only take the time to read the Bible the truth will be revealed and lots of changes will take place

People keep returning to the catholic Church because it is the place where Jesus Christ is found in the Eucharist.

Hippolypta, the human race as a whole is filled with wrong doings, only an ignorant person would address religion.

Because there are millions and millions of God fearing Catholics in the world.

Only a few people did these atrocities, not the mass.

To blame the whole would be like calling all Atheists balloons since some are full of hot air. Most are fine and intelligent people and I'm not going to blame the whole for the shortcomings of a few.

It would also be like assuming all Muslims are terrorists when they aren't.

Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

You can say all that about any religion, my dear - corruption is rampant across denominations and faiths.

People go to their chosen place of worship for spiritual renewal.

It was corruption that brought about Jesus' crucifixion. It was Corruption that brought about the Protestant Reformation. It was corruption that brought about the sectarian violence between the Shiites and the Sunnis. It was corruption that brought about the downfall of so many leading protestant leaders - Jim Bakker, that man from the evangelicals, and so many others just to name a few.

So the Catholic church is no better nor worse than any other. Yours included.

and, remember, darling one, the Bible says, "Judge not - lest ye shall be judged."

Because people say it doesn't matter...they themselves go to the church because of their own reasons and not the church's, so, in their reasoning, they are going to see God at His house and NOT worshiping the religion the church building belongs to.

LOL I once entertained that idea myself because I just wanted to go to God's House...realized God's "house" was within me all the time and then I had to face the real issues of each religion for what they were.

God knows, and I'm sure that in every church organization there are going to be those He receives and those He doesn't...

Peace be with you :)

I'm not Catholic or even Christian for that matter but I think that Catholics stay with Catholicism because they still believe in it's theology and they aren't going to abandon it because of the actions of a few bad clerics.
