Yes.
Essential medication in liquid form (prescription or over the counter) may be carried in the cabin bag.
(You may be asked to prove that the medicine is for you and is required during the flight.)
Medicines in non-liquid form may be carried in the cabin bag as normal.

I have only travelled in the US, and I usually pack all my meds in my carry-on in their original containers in the event my checked baggage gets lost. So far, I have never had a problem.

you are able to take some medications on board with you. But check with the airline to insure you may take aerosol inhalers with you. you can not take a O2 tank on board. and my inhaler had to be sent thought the luggage. but pills were OK...

Yes you are allowed to bring medication onboard with you. You might also want to bring your prescription with you just in case the security agents are being jerks.
