No they dont. I have 24 peircings and they didnt set any of the alarms off when i went on a plane a few years back. Unless the metal detectors are more advanced these days. Then it shouldnt be a problem.

I thought i would be asked to take them all out before stepping through but no-one said anything so i just walked through without an alarm going off.

It all depends on the type of metal used in them.
Nowt to do with ears, but the "D" rings on my my boots always set off the alarms.....they just did a quick check and let me through no problems.

It depends on how big and thick the rings are. once set off the alarm with a small metal barrette.

Not necessarily, just don't take the risk. There are two options....One, the guy will make you take off the piercings....then walk through the detector again...or two...you get screened using a portable detector
