To see them die, not because they're going to Heaven but because the families suffer greatly... not to mention, there is probably very traumatic events surrounding the child's death. It's sad still to see them abandon Christianity but most do at some point. If they do, we still have hope for their return.

Nope not me, I would die for him, after all he did it for me. It won't be long before we are persecuted right here in the good ol' USA. The disrespect of Christians is very apparent right here on YA! It will happen soon enough. I am not looking forward to it, but I will stand up for God no matter how bad it might get. Its not easy being a believer in this day and age. With all the teachings in science supposedly evident that there is no God. Being labeled ignorant and delusional, because I cling to a belief that is not tangible. Even for those that have intelligence that surpasses the average. Living a Christian life is also not easy nowadays with all the temptations available, and so many of us are straddling the fence between God and the world. It really is hard to stick the teachings of Jesus Christ, but I have made a choice to follow Christ and as hard as it is, I will not let go of that.

I think Jesus is very sad right now at these cold, unfeeling Christians. Christians...do you not understand that although you are supposed to spread the Gospel, you are doing exactly the opposite by your answers to this question? Many times I've been asked why I do not consider Christianity (I am Jewish) and from now on, all I have to do is show people your answers and they will immediately know why. You do great disservice to your cause by your coldness and cruelty.

Excellent question! Really shows who the true fanatics are!

It would be much tougher to see the child die of course. Any respectable human would provide this answer without hesitation.

Grim Jack:

We fool ourselves that deep down the bible-worshipers are no different than any of us Free thinkers. That is until the right question comes along and like a surgeon's scalpel slices away the facade of humanity from the believer. What is left for all to see is pure ugliness, pure evil. This is the heart of religion. This is what we are fighting against.

That any sane, compassionate human being could answer that it'd be tougher to see a Christian child abandon their faith than DIE - is not a member of the human race. For the promise of immortality, they have gleefully sold their soul and their humanity. The deluded have traded the illusion of immortality in exchange for their morality - and we are all the poorer for it. I weep for what we have become.

"Christianity has ever been the enemy of human love."
— Ouida, (1839-1908)

"Man's inhumanity to man will continue as long as man loves God more than he loves his fellow man."
— Joseph Lewis, (1889-1968)

"Step softly, dreams are buried here."

You got some pretty disturbing answers
I'm not Christian, but there's very very little worse than seeing a child die, and that has NOTHING to do with their belief or lack thereof in anything! It's sickening that a religion that's supposed to be based on unconditional love teaches people to appreciate a certain faith more than life itself.
OF COURSE it would be worse to see a child, any child and especially my own, die!

Fascinating answers you're getting to this one.

I'm reminded of the recent popular YouTube video of the teenager proclaiming his atheism to his mother. She was so shocked that all she could think to say in response was that in that case, he would get no Christmas presents. (Sorry, I'm too lazy to look up the link.)

This was funny, to be sure; but it was also instructive. If you've seen that video, then you'll know what I mean when I say that woman was scared. All parents are a bit frightened of their rapidly-maturing youngsters, and when the kids seem to be repudiating their own parents, that's even more frightening. I can still recall the bewilderment on my own parents' faces when they learned that I didn't believe in their god. The YouTube mother's eyes looked exactly the same.

Best question I've seen in a long time. Saddest answers I've ever seen. These Christian "values" are going to be the death of us all. Brian's answer is right on target. I couldn't have said it any better myself. My disillusionment with xtians is at an all time low, and frankly, I didn't think it could get any lower.

Wow. Some amazing answers.

I cannot imagine seeing a child die rather than give up their religion no matter what that religion might be. I just can't understand that thinking.

Absolutely SICK answers. But at least they clear up something I always wondered. It is now confirmed that those who tell us that Christianity is the religion of love and mercy actually have no idea what those words mean.
