I don't get it do you?... how about Christianity, heterosexuality, paedophilia, murder & adultery?...it sounds impressive doesn't it and considering the Catholic church's recent enormous payout to abuse victims it's maybe closer to the truth?

Most do. Don't get me wrong - I have Christian friends who don't believe this tripe but even in my state, where gay marriage is allowed, you hear this garbage about pedophilia and homosexuality somehow being linked. It disgusts me. Little can get me that worked up but blatant ignorance does it every time. And when I'm asked by almost every non-Christian homophobe I know (and non-Christian homophobes are a high majority too, just to be fair) just WHY I'm so insistent that any politician I want in office be pro-gay marriage I tell them this: "Not only is it a human, not a civil or religious right, and NO human should have less rights then another, but in case you haven't noticed, there are crazy people in the world who actually BELIEVE THAT THEY SHOULDN 'T, and oftentimes equate homosexuality with either a disease, a brain disorder, or an indecent, disgusting act. " My father is a great man but he doesn't understand why I am such a crusader for this cause when "there's so much else of importance in the world", why this basic human right is so important to me. It's because the homophobes of the world actually think like this (see the other answers) and spread their ignorance around to others quicker than a fundie to a church. This happens all the time, everywhere and dominates most every religion. The groups I find this trend least likely in are atheist/agnostics and Pagans but many of them still buy into this irrational and inhuman idea. We have come somewhere in understanding and respecting the human right of freedom to love and we're continuing to get somewhere. It's a long, uphill battle. Anyone who tells you "a sin is a sin" is a heartless, ignorant nutjob. Period. If this upsets anyone, please remove me from your contacts list. I don't want to know you. EDIT: Hey, the ONE good thing to come out of this is that now you have a whole BEVY of people to block! (I used to think blocking wasn't worthwhile, until doing it saved me from getting VNs. Worth it, indeed).

Well, the thing to remember is that many people are born with the tendency towards those things. There have actually been studies done on the subject. I can't remember where I saw it...maybe it was an Ann Rule book? Eh, I read so much I can't keep track. Anyway, it was proven that most people with sociopathic tendencies inherit them from birth. Many adulterers commit adultery because of a chemical imbalance that they were born with. It is literally against their nature to be in a monogamous relationship.
And besides, they're all sins according to the Bible. So that would put homosexuality on the same level, according to God's standards, as "big" sins (murder) and "small" sins (lying). This is biblical.

Everything you mentioned in your question is a sin. All sin will keep a person from Heaven. The smallest sin to the largest sin (by man's standards) are all equal in God's eyes. A sin is a sin. That is why homosexuality is in the same "category" as the other sins including bestiality, pedophilia, murder & adultery

Christians don't need to "try" to associate those together. It's sex outside of the confines of a one-man-one-woman marriage, it's simple as that.
