Have you ever wondered why we have 12+ million illegal immigrants in the United States and yet the farmers still can't find workers? You would think with 12+ million we would have enough for harvest right?

Farmers will always have a hard time keeping workers its a very hard job and pays very little, even illegal immigrants want to move up to an easier, higher paying job, notice illegal immigrants have moved into construction, manufacturing, meat packing and service industries.

There are no jobs Americans won't do, only starter jobs that people do not plan to do for the rest of their life.

If the employer does not pay a min. wage, they are breaking the law.......if they hire in illegal worker, they are breaking the law. if the employer withhold their money and claims it for governmetn tax, they are breaking the law and commiting fraud and to mention material misrepresentation and tortious act. You question implies the farmers are commiting a crime by not paying a min wage. if the farmer cannot get legal people to work on the fireld for the wage they set, that is their problem. Maybe some farmer come up with a harvesting machine to over come the labor shortage. the cottton gin was invented because picking cotton was soo labor intensive. Mabe some one will invent a fruit picking machine. So one one want to work from min. wage in such a hard job. mexican included. and if it min wage was enforced along with payroll taxes, perhsp a farmer woul invent a machine to replace people in this backbreaking work. But right now no one wants a labor saving device or another eli whitney.

The statement that illegals do the work that citizens won't do is insulting and wrong. Of course they want the jobs! And if the farmers paid a reasonable wage, the cost of produce would NOT increase dramatically like the pro-illegals claim.

I was out of work a few years back, and I was looking for anything..and I went to several farms in the area and none of them called me for a job. A JOB IS A JOB! Far as I have checked recently working in the fields pay pretty darn good. But it is cheaper to pay Illegals then Americans.

Many would, yes. During the summer months, many teens and college students complain they cannot find summer jobs because illegals are taking those jobs and working for less money. But if minumum wage and above minimum were offered, there would be even more illegals looking for those jobs and it would become even more competitive for legal workers.

I don't see it happening very often. My friends family have grove and they have tried and tried to find Americans to do the job, they may last a day or so then never show back up for work. They offer them slightly more then the illegals, it's not just Mexicans (as one has stated above) that do this work. Just because they have brown skin does not make them Mexicans. It is very hard to find Americans willing to do this work. I have went out in the groves myself on a visit and I will tell you, it is hard work. I met alot of great people who do not complain, or say a word. There are a few that would do the work, but they have to be willing to go out and make an effort.

No we does no longer starve in the event that they migrant workers all went on strike. we could merely import our fruit and vegetables from different countries and pay greater for it. that would in turn placed tens of hundreds of farmers out of company and that they could could sell their farms and discover different paintings in a city someplace. yet understand that the yankee meals plan is corn and soy based-we consume particularly some feed lot beef and production facility farmed poultry and beef. All of that are fed corn and soy based feeds. plus we individuals love our processed meals that are specifically extruded corn and/or soy slurry with man made colours and flavorings so as that the slurry resembles meals. Corn, soy and different grains are all device planted and harvested and one individual can surprisingly rather handle 10K acres. very different from culmination and vegetables that are so lots greater solid to mechanize and maximum could be the two hand planted and hand harvested. the final public of people do no longer own the abilities to try this paintings and intensely few are keen to put in the long hours (14 hour days are surprisingly hardship-free) for extremely low pay (properly below $8 an hour). that's why American have long gone from the farming pop making up over 50% of the inhabitants to the present farming pop being below a million%. we've 4x as many prisoners in jails around the united states of a than we do farmers. surprisingly unhappy in case you question me.

The reason they hire illegal aliens is not because of the kind of job it is. It's because they don't want to pay fair wages or give benefits. If they hired American they would have to because Americans are educated, have integrity and know their rights.

These are just jobs where they can get away with it. It has nothing to do with how hard the job is or who wants to do them.

The only illegals I see in the fields are from Mexico. Why don't we give the jobs to the legal ones?
