first off take her to the vet to see if she has a urinary tract infection
go to the pet store and get some Natures miracle, it is in a white bottle and has red lettering. it has enzymes that will eat away the urine.
if she doesn't have a urinary tract infection and after you have cleaned those areas up good and she still pees on the carpet you may have to retrain her to use the litter box by putting her, her litterbox, some toys and water in a small room, keep her normal feeding schedule and make sure you go in and spend time with her in there. she will eventually learn that she has to use the box or she is going to have to live in it. and most animals don't want to sleep or eat where they go.
Cats tend to not use the litterbox when they have urinary tract infections because it hurts and they associate pain with the litter box. they will also do this to get their owners attention that something is wrong.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

If this is a new problem, take her to the vet. It may be a urinary tract infection. The only time my cat went in the house it was because of this reason.
Get a product called Urine-off - you can get it from vets and online. It works far better than Nature's Miracle and anything from a pet store or grocery store or vinegar, which some people recommend. A little more expensive but it is the only thing I've ever found that 100% works.

This is some advice somebody gave me, my cat all of a sudden started peeing in front of his litter box, turned out he needed a box that didn't have a lid so he wouldn't feel trapped and cornered, who knew?
1. Use non-scented clumping litter.
2. Clean the litter box clumps out daily, the box at least 1x weekly, multiple cats should have it cleaned 2x weekly
3. Purchase cat attract and sprinkle on the top of the litter daily.
4. Purshase Pheromone spray in case your cat decides to christen an area not near the litter box.
5. The specialist told me that there should be a litter box on every floor of the home. That with two cats there should be at least 2 boxes, preferrably NOT covered and not in a corner or not surrounded by a washer/dryer
The last step seemed crazy to me as I've always had my cats litterbox in the corner of the laundry room. And it's always been covered. But he told me that sometimes as cats get older they get finicky, also he said that sometimes there might be something that has upset the cat and makes them feel uncomfortable with the present litterbox location. The reason behind it not being in corner he informed me was that the cat needs to have more than one escape route in case they feel threatened (ie other cat is waiting to pounce/play!).
I wasn't sure if any of it would work, but like I say I was desperate and tried it. It all worked. But I also went a step further, a lot of grocery stores sell containers for kitty litter that looks like green litter - but if your cat has any type of urinary infection it will actually turn red. It has been very helpful. Now whenever there is an incident (VERY RARE) I put some of that on top of the litter and 9 times out of 10 it turns red. So it's not true misbehavior in that case, but rather an infection where she has less control.
Good luck to you! I hope it all gets worked out!!

This part of the carpet has her potty smell now and she will keep using it until you either get rid of the carpet or neutralize the odor.
Neutraliers are not the same as deodorizers - just because you can't smell the odor doesn't mean your cat can't - she has far better sense of smell.
You need to get a product specifically made to neutralize pet odors.

once a cat has marked a spot, they will keep going back to that same spot. I use white vinegar to get the smell out and baking soda. you might have to replace the carpet, though. blot/soak up as much of the liquid as you can. then sprinkle a lot of vinegar on it. let it sit a bit, then blot it again. put a clean white cloth on it and walk on it til it's fairly dry.

Perhaps you do not have enough litter trays in the house, or perhaps your cat does not like the litter you are using and would prefer a finer grain, which would be more comfortable to stand on. Are the litter trays clean enough? Is your cat elderly? Perhaps she has a loss of bladder control? Or perhaps she she has cystitis and needs veterinary treatment.

Make sure her cat box is super clean.
Try putting the box where the pee is OR (not both of course) block off the area she is peeing in.
She may have a urinary tract problem, but mostly...cats just pee in places. We had cat boxes and our cat still loved to pee in the closet.

This usually means they have a urinary tract infection.
Cat needs to get to the vet ASAP and get on antibiotics or worser things can happen.
Once treated it should stop going on your carpets.
