I never viewed it as a battle. Conviction of the heart is what it is. Not being one too big on being organized by any religious group I think that the core ideas presented in a belief system stand on their own merits -- or lack thereof.
Furthermore, I agree with your notion that there is a lot of circular logic in this place ... but that which we feel must be genuine at some level as long as we aren't playing games.
A lot of games get played here too.

well actually we place such high expectations upon what our beliefs will do or be for us that they cannot possibly accomplish that for which we wished for. Its sort of goes along the same lines as coveting where we empower things to give us a gratification for which things were never intended.
What happens is the things or ideas or beliefs empty themselves of the power to gratify upon our obtaining of them and the power to satisfy our inner desires moves on to the next unobtainable till we arrive there and it becomes a constant frustration because there really does not exist within the finite world an absolute which would cause our spirits to rest at long last because our spirits are infinite in origins and it is only that which lies within the essence of infinity that can satisfy that infinte part of our being.

Yes, the letter of the law can belie the spirit of the law. Also, we can forsake the Word of God for the tradition of men. However, if we are obedient to Truth, the "active and organized" belief becomes more empowered, not less. The early church was one example of this. Read the book of Acts. It's possible, just not easy to come by.

The purpose of posting here is not to win or lose, but to hone our skills against multiple opponents of various levels, to learn new attacks and prepare our defences.
As to your last question, there is no doubt that modern Christianity has no resemblance to early Christianity, which lived in small communist communities. Most Christians refuse to believe it, but true Christianity equals communisim.

Please, please don't let that stop you if you are a seeker.
There are those in my faith (Christianity) who are considering this idea. Those who are looking at the church throughout history and seeing a trend...a great move of the Spirit, followed by man's attempt to box it up and slap a label on it, becoming a divisive thing among those who embrace and those who reject.
So don't give up on this forum...regardless of your belief or lack of it. In the midst of the rhetoric, you may find something worthwhile. Those who seek, find.

I'm inclined to agree, since life itself is truly about the individual journey. When one is absorbed into the "group mind," however, the identity and focus of the individual is easily compromised or contaminated.
Good luck in your future pursuits.

I do not see this forum as a win/lose
It is supposed to be for people to ask questions and for others to answer those questions.
If I know nothing about wicca, I do not asnwer the question, so there is no win lose unless you are prone to demanding that your opinion be heard even when it isnt asked for.

Sounds about right to me....
You will be missed. I too feel your frustration, and what I did was gave up the ghost of honest debate, and chose instead the entertainment value of reading some of the responses on here....
