That you were chosen out of the world; by Jesus.
"“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. John 15:18-19

Taking joy in being hated shouldn't be a good thing if you work so hard to make the hate happen.
Hate given without provocation should make you joyful.
Like someone that blows themselves up is no martyr, but someone attacked and killed is. Because a martyr has to be a victim not a perpetrator.
------------
EDIT:
I was raised as a fundi I can't be fooled. As a group you experience the opposite of hate. You receive preferential treatment especially in the USA and your special interest have profound political ramifications. You are becoming hated but trust me you are not only in this world you are the driving force of the one superpower and trying to act oppressed is offensive you self righteous bigot.
Blessed Be!

In the first place, when a "Christian" complains that the world hates him, I have to laugh. Christianity has dominated the West for nigh two millenia. It's the default position in our society. It's expected, encouraged, rewarded. It's easier to be a "Christian" than it is to fall off a log. The fact that all the competing brands of Christianity are just as vindictive towards each other as they are towards other religions doesn't really help your case, either.
In the second place, it's cute when you cite biblical passages to show that Jesus prophesied that you'd be hated for following him, but please understand that you already have to be religiously insane to buy that load. Otherwise, it seems MUCH more likely that you're hated because you're obnoxious and sociopathic. But that's less noble than imagining that you're some kind of martyr, isn't it. Well, it's thinking like yours, pushed just a bit farther, that leads people to strap bombs to themselves.

These are beautiful verses, and as a Christian, I find inspiration in them.
But I fear that sometimes they are misused. Sometimes the world rejects us because we are truly 'not of the world." To be not of the world means, to me, to be committed to justice, serving the poor, loving God, loving all people.
Sometimes we Christians do not act as if we are not of this world. We judge others, close our hearts to the needy, and celebrate materialism as much as God. If people reject us when we Christians act un-Christ like, perhaps this is a good thing.
The key is to continue to follow Jesus' path of loving God and loving others. If we are truly committed to "taking up our cross," then we need not worry what others think about us or do to us.
Peace.

Sort of...
although I do try not to annoy people on purpose to be a better witness for them...
I am very passionate about people's souls, I don't allow that passion to kill the relationship, because then their is no way to follow up....

I did hate myself for years because I didn't understand that the ways of the "world" are not the ways of God.
You are right...
I do feel better knowing that if the world hates me (which includes my own brothers) it is because I try to uphold what Jesus has taught us about living our lives for Him!

its not the christian belief that arouses hatred so much as the staunch refusal to accept science & the facts
the whole "believe or go to hell" nonsense doesnt help your cause either
EDIT- believe whatever you want- just dont try to make us all believe that your superstitious bigoted b.s. is real. hahahaha....so you call me "shitty" and that somehow proves some kind of point? I suspect your background in comedy rivals your background in science
Your assertion that christians are somehow persecuted in america is absolute rubbish. people like you give religion a bad name; somebody reads posts like yours and assumes that all god folk are developmentally challenged. maybe people dont hate christians- maybe they just hate you.

Yes, it is comforting. I do not care at all if the world hates me. What the most important thing to me is, is my walk with the Lord.

that was one of the psychologically brilliant bits of the bible:
"if people hate you or laugh at you, that means you're right".
And you bought it hook, line and sinker.
