when we were studying religion in my social studies class, we studied all different religions which isn't the problem. the problem is that the christianity test was 2 pages long, and the other test was a one page mix of all the others. i understand that most people practice christianity, but what about those who don't? i don't mind learning about the religions, i just think that if they should've mixed christianity into the other test. what are your thoughts?

this same thing happened to me. in my world history class freshman year of public high school my teacher spent one week on christianity and he went into Bible verses and stories in the Bible and none of it was in the book. i felt really ackward, because he spent one day on islam, and before christianity he spent half a day on judaism. then after islam one day of buddhism and hinduism, then the nest day half a class on jainism. my problem was that he made all of the other religions sound stupid and crazy especially jainism. my class was half christian, me the only muslim and hindus and buddhists we were all offended, because he was preaching christianity, when he was only supposed to introduce it, like all the others, but instead he huffed and puffed his way through those. then kind of like your teacher he gave us one whole long test w/ essays on christianity, which he graded harshly. i failed that one, because i didn't remember the bible verses and all of abraham's children. then he gave another shorter one on the rest which was all mulitple choice, but it still had christianity questions in it. i at leats passed that one. but teahcers like these should be fired, becuase this isn't what they get paid o do. they are only supposed to introduce the religions not teach their practices and try to convert people

Well, I don't like it, but let us consider some things.
Living in the West, we primarily learn Western culture, specifically that of the United States.
What about all the other countries? What about all the other cultures? What about all the different approaches to medicine? What about Eastern practices of meditation? etc.
We tend to study that which has had and still has the greatest influence in our particular society.
This was a Social Studies class, not a Religion class. If it were the latter, I would certainly be suspicious... but it's not. There is more to know about Christianity in respect to our little side of the world than there is to know about other religions in the same regards.

I went to public school-- I am a Christian & was forced to be taught & tested on Evolution..?? Was that unfair?? If you don't believe it-- just memorize for the test & move on.. It won't kill you to learn about other people/cultures.. More than likely you were studying the Historical points the when, how & whys..These help others to understand different cultures..
You were not being forced to worship anything or anyone.. So Yes it is fair.

I'm kind of surprised they even talked about that in public schools. My public school didn't even broach religion. I do agree that there should have been equal time on all though. I took two college courses in Eastern (Buddhism, Hinduism,Other) and Western (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) that did a good job of giving equal time.

Allow me to ask you this. If you were going to school in Iran how many pages do you think the Christian portion of the test would have been? This is sheer insanity. People who come to America know that this nation is a christian nation. They should be allowed to worship anyone and anyway they choose, but its absurd to expect this country to change our belief system or our way of teaching to accommodate them. What country does this for us?When in Rome do as the Romans do. Political correctness------spread it on your front lawn, then watch how green it turns.

get over it "arabia" your teacher was probaly christian and he probaly knew alot about it. So thats probably why he taught it so much, and look at you look at how much you talk about your all good muslim religon. I saw your profile all your questions you ask and answer are about muslim so you do it to. Awww poor girl your teacher was teaching you another religion have a cry. and as for the person that asked this question theres probably alot more to learn about with christianty try reading the bible one day it will teach you alot

well i would have failed that test on purpose
its not right...
its because your school board is christian and thats what they wanted
then they threw in the other religions just to make it semi fair.
i bet they just gave a main idea of the other religions and went into deep depth of Christianity.
highly unfair...
i remember my teacher was doing some crap like this...
she said, "Everyone who is not Christian raise your hands"
and i was the only 1 to raise my hand...
and she thought i was kidding...
if they keep evolution out of schools they need to keep Christianity out of schools!

yeah that sucks. even tho my 6th grade teacher scared me, he was always cool because he would always equal out the tests because he knew i was a buddist. but this year, my teacher would give us this BIG test on christianity [which EVERYONE but me would have interest in] and i would fail it just because i had no interest in it. i thought america was supposed to be free for our own choices, but i guess not. we live in a very christian culture and it sucks.
