Try not to force a bond. let her/him get used to you. i had a few cats like that. if your cat doesn't roam around your house set the cat box, food, and water in the room that your cat feels more comfortable in. it might take a while. but let it get used to you and the new environment.

How long have you had her? These things can just take time; she has to really learn to trust you. It's a good sign that she sleeps with you and lets you pet her. Try getting some interactive toys (like a fishing pole for cats or a feather) and play with her. When you pet her, try to give her some kitty treats, she might not take them at first, but don't get discouraged. She needs to realize that humans are good and bring good things. She needs to see that you are nonthreatening. Cats are very resistant to change, so if you just got her, she's probably scared out of her mind and has to get acclimated to her new place.
Good luck. I'm sure she will be fine.

Any cat will stay if you feed it. But when it comes around you bend down to it's level and hold your hand out with your palm facing down so it can sniff the back of your hand. You could also try putting it's food around your bed so it will get used to being around you and your family. I've trained four wild cats to be tame and that is what worked for me.

You love the cat and show you won't hurt her/him and if that doesn't work try locking the cat in a room with him/her and try to gentle have your palm turned over and then let the cat sniff, don't be scared, cats will feel your nervousness and bight! Good Luck!

Just give her time. She is still feeling u out and eventually she'll probably change. As far as picking her up, some dont ever like that, but most will warm up eventually. I have one that I have had 3 yrs and it probably took a good .... 6 months at least to let me pick her up and hold her.

My cat is the same way When my nephew comes over, he makes all kinds of noise. She would hide and not come out till they leave. Now when things calm down, she slowly makes her way out of her hiding spot. If things are calm and quiet, she may creep out and say hello. Maybe she just nervous about loud noise. Try not to scream and make too much noise. You find some difference.

you can take her to a trainer or call a cat psychiatrist and she might have been abused earlier in her life. genuinely get friendlier with her and she might get friendlier back. Show her you don't mean to scare her.
