Why does a pc get viruses and a Mac does not?

I am happy with the fact, but why are PCs so easy to get viruses? There are hundreds if not thousands of PC viruses!

Because nobody uses Macs. If even 1/100 of as many people used Macs as PCs then script kiddies and virus writers would target Macs. BTW, Macs do get viruses too.

That is a myth. Macs can get viruses just like a PC but the vast majority of viruses and trojan ware is designed for Windows PCs since there are more PCs than there are Macs. The hackers are just going for the largest target that will affect the most people.

PCs use windows and the viruses are made to affect windows operating systems. Where as Macs don't use the windows operating system; therefore, they don't get viruses. Macs are one of the best computers to have. In fact, most of the University and Businesses throughout the US are considering switching to Macs because they don't get viruses and they are one of the best computers out there. A lot of people prefer PCs over macs because PCs are easier to operate and use with a two button mouse (right and left click). Macs only use one button. It can be a pain for those who aren't too familiar with computer to use a Mac but once you get used to working with Macs you realize that they are the better computer. Besides you don't have to worry about getting viruses.

Mac's can still get viruses, but windows based pc's are targeted because there are a lot more people using windows. who wants to make a virus/worm ect... that only affects 20% of the users on the net. when you could go after a windows system which is being used by the 80%.

those figures were simply examples, in no way are they accurate, just making a point.

The reason is this: If you want to write a virus program that will affect the most people then you write one for the PC. It is not because Mac’s are better or more secure than PC’s. You can write one for the Mac, and people do, but it will not be as much fun. Not very many people will be affected in the big scheme of things.

Why would hackers write viruses for Macs? Barely anyone one uses them, and the people that use them most likely don't have any information worth obtaining. Don't kid yourself, it's not because Macs are superior... although, even though I hate Apple for a variety of reasons... the fact that OSx is unix based does give it a leg up on Win-blows in my book...

Most of viruses designed and made for the Windows operation system,non of them is designed to work on MAC systems...that's why windows is prone to viruses and worms more than any other operation system....linux is less prone to viruses too.

Silly question! A virus is written specific to a type of operating system. If you were writing a virus, would you target an operating system that has a really tiny market share, or one that has almost all the market? And btw, it's not true that there is no Mac malware; there just isn't the same quantity.

you know why cuz pc is evey popular and mac dont and so some hater who werer hacker they get piss out of some company like MS. that why they made virus special for them . then some one start to spread that **** . n know every one know . that why virus was so comon in pc . but not mac cuz no one hate mac they just say dam mac is suck is too old n some say mac is piece of ****. that why no one do a **** to mac but pc . hahah you guess what i mean. think about it how many people use mac this day n how many people use pc
