The earliest I have seen snow in Big Bear was mid-Oct (2004). On average it starts mid-Nov to Dec. If there is no snowfall, temps are often cold enough in the winter at the resort levels to make man made snow.

Wow, that's a tough one. We haven't had much rain this year, so it may be really late in the season. I'd say January would be a good bet. Sometimes the snow makers can start before then, depends on the temps.

Snow in our local mountains is very unpredictable. We have had it as early as November, as late as February. This year we hardly had any because of our drought conditions. So if you want to plan a snow vacation you should go to Mammouth.
