Ok, depends upon a lot of variables and a need to know if it is the 4.2 v6 or 4.6 v-8...

Both I find are critical of oil changes but more so in the v-8 engines... no more than factory recommended 5,000 miles IMO.

The ball joints have a habit of starting to get slack if you ride lots over rough or heavily bumpy roads (Got a lot of people who ride the gravel and dirt roads to the farm or hunting lease where I am at...

IF you pull or haul near the limits of the ratings, I'd keep an eye on the transmission but if you are like most and do the occasional bass boat and say plywood from the lumber yard, regular maintaince will keep it going for many miles.

But truthfully... other than an occasional coil pack going out, the occasional PCV hose.. or maybe the front end if used hard, most of these trucks make 200,000 miles easy .. I've had more than a few in the shop already at 200k (2002s) and never been in the engine, transmission, or rear end.

The v-8 engine and transmission combos I've seen in superduty trucks already at 300k+ already...

that depends on a lot of variables. If you bought the truck new, and take very good care of the maintenance ( I recomend using mobil 1 synthetic oil) if you don't abuse it, I have gotten almost 300,000 miles on em before I traded it in. By using mobil 1, It increases the life of the motor dramatically. Using just oil, I get around 180,000 before the motor is trashed. On the other hand, if you fail to maintain it properly, abuse it etc, you can trash it very quickly. It all rests on you.
