There is no such thing as a 30 hour flight. The longest commercial airline flight is 18.5 hour from Singapore to NY.
Perhaps it will be 30 hours with all your connections?
Hopefully you will be on an airline with a decent entertainment system. One that gives you a TV on the back of the seat. There you can watch a good selection of movies.
I would also suggest you try and sleep, since if you are traveling that far, jetlag will be a problem.
In addition to reading a good book, how about some study material? Or, how about writing some letters?
Good luck fighting boredom.

I was once on a 17-hour flight from Ethiopia to DC, DC to Chicago, and then Chicago to Madison. It is very tiring and so, therefore, I slept even though Ethiopian Airlines has the most uncomfortable seats imaginable for a commercial airline. But when I wasn't sleeping, I was playing 20 Questions on my portable 20Q pod (those ones in the commercial that look like colored spheres), blackjack on my blackjack game, and utilizing the on-board entertainment system in the seats; they had movies, music, and a GPS world-tracking system in addition to status reports like outside temperature (-60 F at 5 miles in the air!). And sometimes, I just got up out of my seat to look out the window. I saw the Nile River! Your brain has a natural mechanism to keep itself somewhat entertained in a setting of boredom. Try these tips. And by the way, 30 hours?! Are you taking a round-trip as in around the world?

I love reading so I usually carry some interesting books with me, if you don’t like reading you can listen to music, it helps you catching a good sleep during the flight or you can carry some snacks and can enjoy the view outside the window. Video Games can also be a good alternative for pass time.

Most of the major airlines ususally have built-in entertainment systems in their coach. If you happen to be on a flight without those perks, you might want to check into getting an AC adapter and bring along a DVD player, PSP, or some other form of entertainment!

Hi, an ipod or mp3 would be good. I love doing crossword puzzles. Update your address book, clean out your purse, make to do lists or grocery lists, etc. I also really like playing electronic yahtzee , you might want to get one before the flight, or another hand held game, it really does help pass the time. Good luck, hope this helped because that really is a long time.
