I've tried Claritin, Zyrtec, and Neti pots on my allergies, they take care of EVERYTHING EXCEPT for the nasal drip. I take singing lessons and haven't been able to practice constistantly for the past month, because it sometimes leaves my throat sore. The mucus doesn't flow like it should down my throat, because I can feel it coming down. It comes down in short, tiny globs every 30 seconds. Then my throat will get reall dry (I don't cough it back up).. If i go to a doctor, is there a guarantee that they will be able to find a nasal spray or something that will work? Would it be best to see an allergist or ENT?

I would start with the family doctor. The reason why is because he can determine the cause of the problem and then he can determine if he can treat the problem. If he can't treat it, he will know from the cause who to refer you to. For example, if he feels it is allergy related, he would refer you to an allergist but if it is sinus related, an ENT referral would be needed.

The problem can probably be solved but there is no way of knowing what it will require until you are medically checked out. The truth of the matter is that, depending on the cause, spray or pills might not work making surgery necessary. If surgery is needed, you will be unable to sing during the recovery period. However, in most situations, you would be able to sing witout any problems once fully recovered. It will all depend on what is causing your problem.
