althought there is nothing in gerbil food that would hurt a guinea pig, there are things lacking that a guinea pig needs. guinea pigs need vitamin c or they get an arthritis-like condition and can't move. if you feed the guinea pig the gerbil food, also feed it cabbage or citrus fruit to keep it healthy.

Yes, it would be bad. Guinea pig pellets are made for guinea pigs' needs. Gerbil food would be lacking vital nutritional needs. It is like you eating dog food. Will the dog food kill you? No. Is it good for you, no.

Yes, it would be bad. Guinea pigs really should only eat pellets made for guinea pigs. These pellets take into consideration their nutritional needs - guinea pigs do not make their own vitamin c and rely on their daily diet to get it. If they do not get enough daily vitamin c they can get scurvy, which is a life threatening, debilitating disease.

Yes. Guinea pigs can only eat plain pellets made for guinea pigs, a dry mix (chaff as I call it) made for guinea pigs and fresh produce.

Yes, It might be. I wouldn't do it. There could be supplements in gerbil food that isn't made for guinea pigs. Then, your guinea pig could very sick. If you don't have any guinea pig food at your house, you can always feed your guinea pig:
carrots
lettuce
orange slices
apple slices
spinach
corn
tomatoes
bannana slices
Thanks, and good luck! If you have any questions you can email me at: pethelper4@yahoo.com! Thanks, and good luck!

Feed them a pellet formulated for guinea pigs. You'll want a plain pellet, nothing with seeds (choking hazard) or colored bits in it.
Brands to look for include Oxbow, Mazuri, Kleenmama's Hayloft (available online) and then Kaytee Timothy Complete.
