Cute is a very diverse word and it's tranlation depends a lot in the context:
He's cute - 'El está guapo' (He's good looking)
She's cute - 'Ella es hermosa' (She's beautiful)
The puppy is cute - 'El cachorro es tierno'
Don't get cute - 'No the hagas el gracioso'
So if cute is a physical attribute it can be 'guapo(a)' when meaning good looking, or it can be 'hermosa' or 'bonita' only for a woman that is fetching, 'hermoso' or 'bonito' is not an attribute you want to peg into a guy unless he's a child or gay. If you want to encompass both physical and personality traits you can use 'chulo(a)' but that suggests a proximity or familiarity to the person. When you are referring to a personality trait, as 'It makes you feel tender inside' then it is 'tierno(a)'. If you mean an object that looks good then you use 'bonito(a)'. Now for 'lindo(a)' if applyed to a person it means that that person is 'nice' rather than 'pretty' but when used on objects it becomes 'pretty' or 'cute'. And finally if it is used as in smart@ss then 'gracioso(a)'
